BPH. What to do?

Adenoma of the prostate is considered benign hyperplasia, most often it occurs in men after 45 years and manifests itself in the proliferation of tissues, which leads to the appearance of tumors in the prostate ("nodes"). Since the gland is connected to the urethra, it compresses it, making it difficult to urinate when the size of the prostate gland increases.

What is prostate adenoma?

The cause of the development of the disease are hormonal changes that occur in the body of a man with age: the level of testosterone decreases, and the level of estrogen increases. Adenoma of the prostate affects older men, and in young people this disease is very rare.

Symptoms:

  • Frequent urination;
  • Night urination to urinate, leading to lack of sleep;
  • Low head of the jet;
  • Need immediately after urge to urinate;
  • Feeling of partial emptying of the bladder;
  • Straining with urination;
  • Sometimes there is urinary incontinence.

The disease develops gradually. At the first stage, the prostate adenoma is manifested by minor urination disorders. There is almost imperceptible growth, the urine stream is sluggish. This stage lasts from 1 year to 12 years.

The second stage has more pronounced manifestations: the urine stream becomes intermittent, there is a need for straining, the bladder is not completely emptied, which leads to inflammation of the urinary mucosa. This causes soreness, a burning sensation when urinating, pain in the waist and the suprapubic region.

The adenoma of the prostate in the third stage is manifested by the fact that urine is secreted involuntarily and constantly, it is necessary to use the urine receiver. Complications of the disease manifest as acute urinary retention.

Such factors can provoke complications:

  • Alcohol abuse,
  • constipation,
  • Supercooling,
  • Bed rest,
  • Untimely emptying of the bladder.

It is urgent to go to the hospital to help.

Adenoma of the prostate leads to inflammation of the urinary tract, which is manifested by urethritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis, urolithiasis. Serious disorders of urine outflow cause hydronephrosis and renal insufficiency.

BPH. Forecast

At the first stage the disease can still be stopped. With timely access to a doctor and taking prescribed medications, the prostate stops growing in volume and there is no violation of urination. In later stages, the quality of life is significantly reduced, complications develop.
