Diesel engine "YaMZ-530": technical characteristics, device and operation

Since December 2013 Yaroslavl capacities of JSC Avtodizel have been producing diesel units of the YAMZ-530 family. This includes only two models of engines - four- and six-cylinder engines.

It is known that in order to build a special version of the motor for the tractor, many different additional tasks will be required. Often it is necessary to process some details. However, specialists of the Yaroslavl plant give a guarantee that in order to use this engine, there will not be any constructive changes.

A risky but successful step

At the Yaroslavl motor plant, they really took the risk. After all, to create a diesel engine "YaMZ-530", which would not only have unique characteristics, but could create competition for the best models of world manufacturers, is very, very difficult.

To this end, in the middle of the 2000s, European engineers were invited as partners in this project. After several years of development and experimentation, a series of in-line motors with a volume of 1.1 liters per cylinder was created. The same amount, by the way, on aggregates of famous brands, such as Cummins, Volvo and Iveco. The engine "YAMZ-530" also features advanced performance in terms of power and fuel consumption.

By the way, this engine is one of the first in the whole history of domestic engine building. This product has become a novelty not only for the whole country, but also for "Autodiesel". Scheme for the new engine decided to choose a lower one. Both domestic and European experts unanimously said that it would be better for medium sized diesel engines with small turns.

In order to achieve high levels of environmental friendliness, engineers applied a special system - EGR. It improves the process of gas recirculation. Also in the design there is a catalyst with the possibility of replacing filters.

Engine "YaMZ-530": specifications

Let's see what the basic version of this engine is capable of. So, this is a four-cylinder, four-cylinder power unit. Its working volume is 4.4 liters. Depending on the modification, the power can vary from 136 to 190 horsepower for a four-cylinder version.

The number of revolutions of the crankshaft for the basic unit is 2300 rpm. The maximum torque is 710 Nm at 1600 rpm. Yaroslavl plant Avtodizel, where they manufacture such units, successfully received certificates for the engine YMZ-530, the characteristics of which fully comply with the new environmental standard. This allowed to significantly expand the export capabilities of cars, which were equipped with such installations in European countries.

The new line under "Euro-5" differs significantly improved characteristics, technical and economic indicators. The power range also expanded. Now it is from 240 to 330 horsepower. Torque also expanded - from 900 to 1370 Nm.

By their design, the "Euro-5" models are almost completely unified with their analogous "brethren" under the previous standard. To fully comply with the latest environmental standards, the design uses a catalytic reduction system.

The first copies were sent for testing to the strategic partners of the GAZ Group. They will be installed and operated on many cars, such as Ural, MAZ, and these units will be equipped with city and suburban buses of the brand "LiAZ".
