452 UAZ in the 50s of the last century was designed to transport seriously ill and dead bodies from the territory contaminated with radiation as a result of the outbreak of the Third World War. General description of the model

452 UAZ is a fully-powered, specialized, cargo-passenger car with increased cross-country ability and two leading bridges. Produced at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant since 1965. The release was carried out 20 years before the next modernization in 1985, after which the model received an index of 3741, followed by a code that depends on the specific modification of the car.

Thanks to its body shape resembling a loaf of black bread, the people dubbed the car an uncommon nickname UAZ 452 "Loaf". In addition, it is often called "Sanitary" or "Tablet", as in the Soviet Union the model was actively used as medical vehicles.

Specifications

In the 60s of the XX century, 452 UAZ Had very good technical characteristics: the load-carrying capacity of the car was 1076 kg, the engine capacity - 2445 cm³, and the power - 72 l / s. The engine, installed before on the "Victory", is located, as in all subsequent models - in front, between the driver's and passenger seats, from the bottom. Such a location made it possible to do minor repairs without leaving the salon.

The carburetor power supply system was used until the end of the 1990s (the injector is now popular). Four cylinders arranged in a row carried out uninterrupted operation of the power unit and the entire car. The transmission on the 452nd model was four-speed, mechanical. In the original design of the UAZ 452, the body structure was assumed to be a station wagon. The car had 8 seats and 5 doors (two of which were located at the rear and used to load and transport cargo). The dimensions of the SUV inspired confidence: width - 2100 mm, height - 2356 mm, length - 4820 mm, wheelbase - 2540 mm, clearance - 310 mm.

Modifications

For 20 years of production, several models of the UAZ 452 were developed and put into production. Some of them found their popularity, others only received life as exemplary specimens and were not produced serially. Below are the most common modifications:

• 452 - all-metal van;
• 452A - the nurse;
• 452АС - nurse for exploitation in the Far North;
• 452B - minibus with ten seats;
• 452D ("Tadpole") - cargo double model with a body from a tree.

These transport units have always been in widespread use.

Experimental and specialized machines

In addition to well-known modifications, the car factory produced UAZ 452 models, photos of which could be found only on the pages of specialized magazines:

• 451C - a modified model of "Tadpole". It was equipped with two removable skis instead of front wheels and two caterpillars, with which the movement was carried out. Unfortunately, the serial production of the model did not begin. But the prototype served as the basis for the development of the subsequent variation of UAZ "Uzol";
• 452К Medea was developed in 1972. It was a 16-seater bus with three axles. Served as the basis for the development of cars for Georgian rescuers. At the end of the 1980s, the Georgian SSR started independent production of off-road models. For 5 years, about 150 such machines were produced, some of them are still in operation;
• 452P - saddle miniature tractor, and has not received a different name, except for the official one. Modification fell on the conveyor and was carried out for one and a half years. It looks like an ordinary tractor equipped with an individual isothermal semi-trailer with hydraulics control.

In addition to the experimental modifications, specialized models for various types of activities were produced on the basis of the UAZ car 452: fire truck-water jet, excursion micro-train, mobile weather stations, mobile radio nodes, postal cars, airfield emergency trawler.

Deserved popularity

Excellent qualities associated with the car's permeability, as well as unpretentiousness and the possibility of self-repair in the field without special equipment, have increased the demand for machines. Although before the collapse of the Soviet Union, their private acquisition was virtually eliminated. The plant worked only on official state orders.

Almost unchanged in half a century, the exterior of the car makes it recognizable all over the world. Despite the fact that Ulyanovsk models are much inferior to foreign off-road cars in terms of driving comfort and control, they are very popular.
