Domestic armored car "Scorpion" in service appeared not so long ago. The machine is produced in three modifications: in the form of an armored model, a tent car for special units and an ordinary unprotected option. All versions are accepted for use by the Russian Ministry of Defense, which plans to expand the line, including command-staff, medical, liaison and other special arrangements.

Development and creation

The new armored car was developed by a private company called "Protection", known for its efforts in creating special vehicles, body armor, handcuffs and other specific means. Experienced copies were issued entirely at the expense of the company's financial investments. After passing the tests, they were presented to the military ministry for approval and testing.

Many foreign organizations engaged in the manufacture of military equipment are working on this principle. The new armored car "Scorpion" is equipped with many components and units of imported production, which is caused by a lack of quality similar domestic parts.

This feature is associated with a solid mass of equipment, which is more than four thousand kilograms.

Power unit

The model "LASA B" is equipped with a turbocharged diesel engine with four cylinders, which was manufactured by the Polish firm "Andoria". Its working volume is 2.7 liters with a horsepower of 156 horsepower. Manufacturers of armored car inform that in the case of permanent orders for this car, the Polish side agrees to establish the production of engines on the territory of the Russian Federation.

While gearboxes, gearboxes, transmission units are manufactured in Korea. The wheels of the army car are shod in imported off-road rubber with special inserts. These nodes are also planned to be collected on the territory of the Russian Federation. The batteries in the armored car are similar to the tank elements of a new model. "Scorpion LTA" is an armored car, which has less mass and protection than the above modification. It is also known as the 2M index. In the standard configuration, it is equipped with a canvas top mounted on a massive safety cage. There are interpretations of the machine with an all-metal body. The bottom here is flat, not protected from explosions.

The driver's seat is almost identical to the armored car, not counting the simpler climate control and ventilation. The compartment for personnel in this version is also simplified. The role of the seats is performed by benches that are attached to the floor and placed along the sides.

The diesel 156-hp unit, which is optimally suited for a four-ton, is too active on the light version. This is due to the fact that the "Scorpion" - armored car (LPA or LTA), which is lighter than his colleague of the series of the LASA by almost one and a half tons. With such an engine, the car does not leave the ravines, but practically jumps out.

Scorpio - armored car (LSA), the characteristics of which are described above, has a large curb weight (4.1 tons). Other distinctive parameters:

  • Length / width / height - 4,61 / 2,1 / 2,16 meters;
  • Total weight - 4.9 tons;
  • Body type - armored version (class 5 or 6A);
  • The maximum speed is 120 kilometers per hour.

The remaining technical parameters between the cars in question are identical.

Management and patency

"Scorpion" - armored car (LUSA 2B), the photo of which is presented below, is really convenient and pleasant to manage. Behind the wheel of such an off-road vehicle there is a foolish sense of permissiveness when overcoming most of the obstacles.

Nevertheless, there are also their pitfalls here. For example, a heavy machine buried in a loose snow is not so easy to pull out as it might seem at first glance. Help can winch, which is clinging to a suitable stop or for the same armored car. On the hood of the car in question there are two locking devices, which are removed and fitted under the wheels.

According to some sources, such a decision was prompted by the military, who experienced all the delights of the armored car tests in the most difficult conditions. The maximum autonomy of each transport unit allows objectively to solve most of the assigned tasks. In addition, the developers expect to create a modification designed to work effectively in regions with extremely low temperatures. Concerning the minuses of the armored car, one can note: some designers are sure that a continuous rear axle would add strength, and drum-type brakes showed themselves better in mud areas than a disk block.

The armored car "Scorpion": tests

Three variations of the car in question differ in weight and protection. The armored to the maximum version was checked at the stand of the sniper rifle SVD. The distance to the target is 30 meters. Considering the initial speed of the flight of the discharged charge - more than 800 meters per second, we can say that the armored car passed the test with dignity.

It is noteworthy that more than a hundred and fifty shots were fired by the machine during the tests, not only by armor, but also by joints, glasses, handles and other elements. As a result - not a single through hole. During testing under the armored car, 600 grams of explosives were blown up, capable of destroying any truck. The technics has sustained blow thanks to the armored V-shaped bottoms.

Security

The armored car "Scorpion LSA" has a number of additional means, increasing the safety of the crew. These include:

  2. Seat anchorage for landing operations, which is fixed on the side walls.
  3. A high indicator of patency and overcoming steep hills without overturning.
  4. The superiority of similar models in speed, maneuverability, overcoming high-altitude areas.

In the competitive test between the "Scorpion" and the famous "Hammer", the domestic car outplayed its rival for the majority of parameters (armament, security, off-road speed and cabin capacity).

From the review, we can conclude that the "Scorpion" - armored car, the photo of which is presented above - is an innovative development in the category of domestic light armored cars. Its functionality allows you to land a mobile military group on any roads. At the same time, the brigade is protected not only from small arms, but also from mines laid on the road surface.

All the characteristics indicate the reliability, maneuverability of the car. Knowingly the Ministry of Defense plans to increase the order of the delivered cars. Some of them will serve as liaison, medical and other vehicles not directly related to combat activities.
