Cultivation and rooting of grape cuttings

Having pre-prepared material, it is possible to begin germination and rooting of cuttings of grapes. To do this, you can buy in the store a lot of containers, growth accelerators, special soils and coconut fillers. And you can use what is in any house at hand.

What is necessary to begin germination of grape cuttings? It is enough to pick up sawdust, have a whole bucket and a warm lighted place in an apartment or house. Preparing cuttings for germination is simple and begins in advance. You can use two methods. The first - in early February, cuttings are removed from the basement, the lower ends are tightly wrapped in fabric and polyethylene (for tightness). The tissue is regularly wetted, even short-term drying of the tissue can not be tolerated. Cuttings are placed in a warm place and watched periodically. Approximately in 2-3 weeks there will be roots, but thus kidneys do not develop.

Option two. Cuttings can be put in a container - for example, a polyethylene bottle - pour water and put in the refrigerator. On the second day in the water add any stimulant for rooting, which you will find in the store. This will stimulate the rooting of grape cuttings, but not the development of the kidneys.

It is necessary to steal the sawdust in advance (pine is not desirable). If the residents of a big city have a problem with sawdust - buy briquette coconut fiber. One briquette with maceration fills the bucket by 8 liters. Steamed sawdust or coconut fiber is poured into a bucket (container, 0.5 liter beer glasses, PET bottles - any containers), and cuttings are inserted in them. The capacity is placed on the window sill over the battery - the roots love warmth, the kidneys light. Water the cuttings after 2-3 days.

In order for moisture to evaporate slowly, there are two ways. When the germination of grape cuttings begins, on top of the sawdust, progressive gardeners add hydrogel - sold in granulated dry form. When diluted with water, you get a clear gel, which does not interfere with the growth of the roots, but prevents the intensive evaporation of water.

If there is no opportunity to purchase a gel - there is foam rubber. It makes a semblance of a cork on a bottle or a glass, in the foam - holes for cuttings, and put on a container. On the one hand, foam rubber lets in air and water when watering. On the other hand, it prevents evaporation. The use of hydrogel is quite effective and convenient, but there is no guarantee of environmental friendliness. Foam is more ecological.

There is another option, how to root the cuttings of grapes, but it is rarely used. It is possible to take cuttings, a cloth for metal to make scratches on the bark and put them in a container with water in a warm lighted place. At the same time, there are two points: the rooting of the grape cuttings should take place in dark containers (future roots do not favor light), and the water should constantly be on the same level: the roots begin to appear as close to the surface of the water as possible, and the level drops will give a low percentage of germination.

If you cook quality cuttings, timely watered and maintain a constant temperature in the room, then in 3 weeks you will get the result - rooting cuttings of grapes: there will be roots.

After the appearance of the roots take a container, sand the bottom and space around the roots; Try to exclude the contact of soil and tender fragile roots. When the roots are protected, you can pour the soil. What kind of soil to take is your business. It is advisable to take the land where your grapes will grow in the future. If you have not prepared the land in advance - in the flower shops sold soil for seedlings (do not take only a peat mixture). If the cuttings are germinated in coconut fiber, then sand can not be used - in the soil, plant the stem with fiber, which then completely rot.
