Compromise is what? A little bit about this concept

Compromise is a decision that partially allows to settle the issue and come to some common opinion to the two disputing parties. In order to reach a compromise, you need to look at the situation from a different point of view, try to understand and accept your opponent.

How to reach a compromise

The path to compromise is very thorny and almost impossible for those who are accustomed to defend their views on the situation to the end. Compromise is an intermediate solution, which solves the dispute between the two sides only partially, but at the same time allows them to agree. In order to reach a compromise, it is necessary to learn not only to defend one's rightness, but also sometimes to neglect it partially in favor of another person, recognizing at least sometimes his point of view. A radical solution to the problem is the configurator - the vision of the problem from all sides and the recognition of the rightness of each of the disputants. At the same time, everyone finds reasonable arguments in the views of the other.

How can we consider a compromise

Compromise is something to which every person should come at least once in a lifetime. From various points of view the compromise acquires a different status. Suppose, in countries with culture inclined to Manichaeism, a compromise is seen as something uncomfortable and compulsory, in other words, a compromise in these countries is seen as an act to the detriment of oneself. In countries that are prone to liberal culture, a compromise is seen as a completely natural phenomenon that allows people to understand each other better.

Search for compromise

Compromise is mutual concessions. In modern society, a person's ability to reach a compromise solution is very much appreciated. However, there are situations in which a compromise is not recommended:

  1. If the opponent presses on you, defending his point of view, and does not concede to you.
  2. If the opponent declares that it is necessary to find a compromise, but he does not do anything for this.
  3. If this decision does not comply with your principles.
  4. If there are any alternative and more beneficial options for settling the conflict, rather than a compromise.

If the presence of all this you feel during disputes, then the search for solutions that are beneficial for someone, should not start. A compromise must have a neutral result, it is viewed only as a mutual rejection of some kind of views or principles, the decision should not be taken in anyone's favor.

Compromise should not be harmful

The highest skill in modern society is a compromise between several parties that does not harm anyone's interests. However, the search for a compromise solution has a very fine line in the cultural setting relationship. It often happens that the adoption of a general solution is reduced to market relations.

But in any case, the choice is yours. It's up to you to decide whether to look for a compromise or try to continue to defend your point of view. If you decide to find a way out of the existing dispute with the benefit for everyone, then you should wish you good luck!
