Clematis bushy: planting and care

Clematis caterers were awarded the honorary title of King among the most popular vines. But among the set of these magnificent plants there are other varieties - low (not more than 100 cm), not "climbing" on the supports, but at the same time strewn with graceful flowers. He is not inferior in beauty to the royal lianas. The hero of our article will be clematis bush (or all-leaved).

Description

The main distinguishing feature of these plants is their winter hardiness, which allows them to grow without shelter, even in northern regions. Among the bush varieties, forms with four petals predominate, but there are also flowers with six petals. They can have a different color - from light blue to saturated blue, from pale pink to lilac. No less effective are bushes with white flowers. Many varieties are very delicate florets in the form of bells.

Bloom

Clematis bushy blossoms somewhat earlier than higher vines. From the beginning of June until the first days of September they please us with their bright colors. If you cut off blossoming flowers, the bushes kick the buds. So many florists extend the flowering to cold. If you do not cut it, then at the very end of the summer, the branches of the bushes will be decorated with an elegant lace made of fruits. These are numerous achenes with tendrils and fluff. This beauty will undoubtedly enliven and beautify the deserted garden.

Clematis clementis: planting and care

This plant is unpretentious and very responsive to additional fertilizing. Well-lit areas are preferred by this plant, although it feels quite comfortable in the penumbra. Planting clematis bush is produced in early spring, when the soil warms up, or late autumn. In a severe climate with a very frosty winter, you should not risk - plant a bush in the spring.

First you need to prepare a landing pit. It is filled with a mixture of peat, compost (humus), garden soil and sand in a ratio of 1: 2: 2: 1. To the obtained composition it is necessary to add 3 cups of ash, 150 g of mineral fertilizers and 200 g of dolomite flour (or wood ash).

In the pit, you need to make a small mound of the soil mixture, and carefully spread the roots of the plant on it, only after that they can be sprinkled with a small amount of soil and moisten. Seedling should be planted so that the growth point was immersed in the soil by about ten centimeters. The pit does not fully fall asleep. During the summer, it gradually sprinkled, leaving the growth point slightly below the ground level.

Thanks to this method of planting, further bush clematis, photos of which can be found in all the reference books on horticulture, will develop better. In the first year the plant must be plucked. This will form the root system and growth points. The next year the plant will please you with three or four shoots. In addition, in the first year should be removed and most of the flowers, so as not to overload young seedlings.

Trimming

Cluster clematis, photos of which you can see in this article, need competent pruning. The beauty of the bush largely depends on this. Shoots first shorten when planting. Growing from the lower pair of buds shoots in the summer must be nipped. In addition, in the summer, regulating pruning is necessary.

Clematis bush: care

Most gardeners believe that this unpretentious plant. However, this does not mean that bush clematis do not need care. Planting and caring for the plant will require the owner to comply with certain rules, of course, if he wants to see on his plot a beautifully flowering plant, rather than a half-savage shapeless shrub.

It is necessary to periodically loosen the soil under the bush, remove the weeds. Clematis bush loves that the soil is always slightly moistened, but there should be no excess moisture. Young plants in the first three years in warm weather watered every other day. If the autumn is dry and warm, then watering is carried out on the same schedule.

Top dressing

We have already mentioned that clematis shrub loves fertilizers. It is desirable to carry out fertilizing twice a month, preferably with liquid fertilizers. The first time this procedure is carried out in the spring, when the shoots start to grow. For this period, ammonium nitrate (20 grams per bucket of water), mullein (1:10), chicken droppings (1:15) will do. Under the bush poured five liters of additional fertilizing.

Each subsequent fertilizing alternates: if the first was organic fertilizers, then during the second, mineral substances should be used. Only during the formation of buds can they be made simultaneously. During the growing season it is useful to water the clematis with bush with the addition of boric acid (no more than 2 grams per ten liters of water).

In late autumn, it is necessary to start preparing the plant for winter - to introduce mineral or organic fertilizers (granulated superphosphate, calimagnesium, potassium sulfate). This late fertilization is carried out during digging, fertilization is recommended to be applied to the watered soil. The best sorts of clematis bush are presented below.
