The city of Abaza is located in the Republic of Khakassia, in the upper reaches of the Abakan River. It was founded in 1856. It received the rank of the city in 1966. The area of Abaza is 90 km 2 , and the population - almost 16 thousand inhabitants (2016). From the city of Abakan it is located at a distance of 179 kilometers. There is another, according to which it is believed that the word in translation from Khakassian means "bear's paw". At the moment, it is still metallurgical, since iron ore is extracted here, which is subsequently poisoned by the corresponding enterprises in Novokuznetsk. In addition to this sphere of industry, in the city of Abaza (Khakassia) there is a forestry, meat processing plant and some other factories and food processing plants.
