origin of name

The Adyg people called Labu "Labe". A definite version of why the river carries such an unusual name does not exist. There are conjectures that the word is borrowed from the Iranian language, on which "lab" means "shore". From the language of the Svan, the neighbors of the Caucasians, the "labna" is translated as "source". Karachai language interprets the word "lab" as a bell. If we draw a parallel and collect all the variants of origin and translation together, we get a literary affectionate "ringing river".
