Caesar salad with shrimps - recipe

Today, the original Caesar salad, invented by Cardini in his personal restaurant in Mexico in 1924, received many different versions. For example, many prefer to simplify it, add arbitrary ingredients and exclude a raw egg from the composition. I often add shrimp, chicken and even bacon as new ingredients. Below is an instruction for preparing one of these options.

So, lettuce "Caesar" with shrimps - recipe and ingredients:

- 1/4 cup of mayonnaise;

- 1/2 teaspoon of anchovy pasta;

- 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce;

- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice;

- 3 table spoons of parmesan grated;

- a pinch of black freshly ground pepper;

- salt to taste;

- 3 small heads of salad "romaine" or 1 large;

- 2 tablespoons olive oil;

- 500 grams of large shrimp, peeled and prepared;

- 2 slices of wheat bread, diced in 1,5-2 cm.

How to prepare a Caesar salad with shrimps? Recipe:

In a medium bowl, mix the first six ingredients to make the sauce. It is necessary to beat up all the ingredients well in order to obtain a homogeneous mass. Try the resulting mixture to taste and add salt if necessary. Refrigerate for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to connect. As already mentioned above, the sauce, which is added to the Caesar salad with shrimps, is classic and contains an anchovy paste. Unfortunately, some mistresses do not understand the taste of this product and try to replace it with something else. It still should not be done.

Anchovies are small silvery fish that are found in the Mediterranean Sea and are popular in the kitchens of this region. Pasta is prepared from their crushed fillets with salt and a small amount of sugar. This product is slightly salty, so do not forget to adjust the amount of salt in your dish.

Continuing to prepare a salad "Caesar" with shrimps, the recipe of which we are considering, rip (not cut with a knife) lettuce into small pieces and rinse thoroughly. Dry the shredded leaves on a sieve or paper towels. Fold them in a large bowl.

In a small frying pan with non-stick coating, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil. Fry the shrimps for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and curd, but try not to overcook them. Take them out of the frying pan and set it aside. In the same bowl, heat the remaining olive oil and fry the bread cubes until they are browned on both sides. Put them on a plate and allow to cool.

Add chilled sauce to lettuce leaves and mix well. Transfer to a salad bowl or serving dish. Before serving, add prawns and toast.

This Caesar salad with shrimps, the recipe of which we reviewed, is great for those who are afraid to eat raw eggs. In addition, lovers of spicy taste can try to prepare toast in another way. To do this, mix the olive oil with the chopped garlic and let it brew for half an hour. Using a brush or spray, apply the resulting garlic oil to the bread cubes, place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake in the oven until golden brown. Thus, "Caesar", a salad (a recipe with or without shrimps, does not matter), which can be diversified almost to infinity, relying only on your own taste.
