To avoid the terrible law "The rights of the first night," the characters marry secretly. Shortly after this joyful event, Marron attempts to rape the King's soldiers, but William confronts her, and in the battle she dies. The next main turn of the plot is the murder of the sheriff by a key character and raising a rebellion to which other villages join.

The hero collects the army and goes against the crown. He had both victories (the battle at the Sterling Bridge), and defeats (the Falkir battle). As a result, the main character is found by the people of the king and is judged for treason to the crown. Wallace even before his death does not recognize the rule of England. He is sentenced to torture, which took place on the square, but there he does not lose heart and at the end of the film dies of decapitation.
