Traditional Recipe

Contrary to the seeming complexity, the classic recipe for making blueberry wine at home is simple. It consists of several stages:

  1. Pre-harvested 4 kilograms of ripe blueberries are carefully washed and sorted, removing garbage and overripe berries. After that, they must be dried, spread out on a baking tray, paper towels or other bedding.
  2. Dry berries are poured into an enamel pot and thoroughly kneaded with clean hands or using a submerged blender.
  3. Berry puree is left for several days, during this time the juice will settle, and the remains of berries will rise upward. Of these, you need to squeeze out the remaining liquid, and the resulting juice is poured into large glass bottles.
  4. In 6 liters of warm boiled water, dissolve 1 kilogram of sugar and add the resulting syrup to blueberries.
  5. The rubber glove is put on the neck of the bottle and left for fermentation in a warm dark place for 1.5 months, periodically changing the container with the wine material in order to activate the yeast.
  6. At the end of time, the wine is filtered and poured into bottles, which must be put in the basement for final ripening. This may take from 3 months to a year, during this period, the liquid must be filtered several times more.

Blueberry wine with honey

The recipe for blueberry wine at home has been changing over the years, new interesting ingredients appear. Adding honey to blueberry wine gives the drink a sweet and mild, unusual taste. To prepare you need:

  • 4 kg of processed blueberries;
  • 400 g of honey;
  • 2 kg of sugar;
  • 5 liters of water.

The cooking process is similar to the classic recipe, it differs only in that when the syrup is created in warm boiled water, honey is also added. Do not forget that all inventory should be sterile, this will help to avoid getting bacteria.

Preparation of wine in leaven

To wine from blueberries at home, fermented with 100 percent probability, it is recommended to add wine yeast or ferment to the raw materials. With their hands, the starter can be prepared as follows:

  1. Prepare a handful of grapes or raisins, rinse well.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the berries.
  3. Pour the mixture 2 cups of warm water and leave in a warm place for several days.

The standard cooking recipe remains the same, but in the first stage, ready-made yeast or a settled yeast is added to the bilberry mass.

Blueberry wine at home is excellent quality and stored up to 3 years. The best way to preserve the taste of blueberry wine is to pour the drink on oak barrels and leave it in a cool dark place, but in the absence of such containers you can store wine in glass bottles.
