Blackberry: planting and care, reproduction of blackberry cuttings, layers. Blackberry Bouncing Reproduction

One of the characteristics of wild blackberry is its ability to reproduce very quickly. This berry almost instantly fills huge spaces, is not afraid of drought, close groundwater occurrence, low temperatures. However, the garden blackberry, which by now has about forty varieties - the plant, unfortunately, is much more tender and capricious. It deals with its "reproductive" qualities. Reproduction of blackberry garden is a rather complicated procedure. Due to a special technology, care is taken for this plant.

How to choose a place

Blackberries are a sun-loving culture. Therefore, it should be planted in a well-lit area. In this case, it is desirable to choose a place in such a way that the bushes are as much as possible protected from a strong wind. In the shade, this plant will also feel good. However, the berries in her case will not be so sweet and large.

With regard to the composition of the blackberry soil - the plant is not particularly demanding. However, it grows best on a humus-rich land with a neutral reaction. The acidic soil can be improved by adding dolomite flour or lime. In wetlands or flooded areas, it is impossible to place a blackberry.

Landing rules

A hole under the blackberry seedling should be dig a big one. The root system of the plant must fit in it completely. Its approximate width and depth is 50 cm. Before planting, prepare a soil mixture suitable for this crop. Make it from garden land and compost. A very good solution is to add 100 g of superphosphate and 35 g of some potash fertilizer to the soil.

Part of the mixture is poured into the pit right away. Then the seedling descends into it. Further, the roots are filled with soil in such a way that the root neck of the plant protrudes about 1 cm above the ground. At the final stage, the earth around the seedling is compacted and thoroughly spilled with warm water. Plant blackberries based on the technology described above, both in autumn and in spring.

Features of care

Growing blackberries on the site involves, first of all, the implementation of procedures such as watering, fertilizing, loosening and removing weeds. The soil under this plant is moistened throughout the growing season. Especially important are watering during the period of growth of shoots and ovary of berries. The last time the soil under the bushes is moistened in October.

Once every three years, the blackberry should be fertilized with compost (4-6 kg per bush). In the intervening years, nitrofosque is used in an amount of 20-30 g per 1 m 2 .

Blackberry, planting and care (multiplication of this culture can be carried out in different ways) followed by - procedures that require compliance with a special technology - a culture that requires periodic cropping. Its stems are shortened in autumn in such a way that the length of the remaining part is 1.6-1.8 m.

Reproduction by layers

Thus, in order to obtain rich yields, plants should provide good care. Reproduction of the blackberry - the operation is also quite difficult. The apex of the plant is most often planted by apical layers. The essence of the method is to root the blackberry shoots without separating from the parent bush. This is one of the most effective methods, allowing with a high probability to get many new young plants. Breeding blackberries on this technology as follows:

  1. Soil around the bush carefully loosen the pitchfork to a depth of at least 30 cm.
  2. A bit of large garden sand is mixed into the ground.
  3. All the lumps lying on the surface are ground.
  4. The shoots are cut off at a distance of 30 cm from the top.
  5. At the level of the node (approximately in the middle of the shoot), make an oblique incision with a "tongue" about 5 cm long.
  6. The wound is sprinkled with some kind of hormonal drug.
  7. In the ground, a saucer-shaped pit is dug 20-30 cm deep.
  8. The "tongue" is bent and pressed with a pebble or a chip.
  9. Escape immerse the knot in the hole, fix a piece of wire and sprinkled with earth.
  10. The upper part of the shoot is tied to any support in an upright position.
  11. The soil over the spilled part is compacted a little.

This is how the planting is done. Reproduction of blackberry in this way will be successful, but only if the soil is periodically moistened around the bush. Irrigation should be carried out until the tip does not take root. The process of forming a root system on an escape lasts about one year. In some varieties, it stretches to a year and a half. In order to make sure that the roots developed well, the shoot should be slightly raised with forks.

Crop the parent branch only in autumn or spring. The newly formed bush is immediately transplanted to a new location.

Reproduction of blackberry by layers is one of the simplest methods. However, you can try to dilute the creeping variety and slightly differently.

Reproduction by cuttings

This is also quite a popular way, often used by amateur gardeners. Reproduction of blackberry by cuttings is an operation that includes the following steps:

  1. In early June, green shoots are cut from the shoots. On each one there must be one kidney.
  2. In a large plastic cup filled with soil mixture, prepared from peat and sand in a ratio of 1: 1.
  3. Cuttings are planted in cups and covered with film.

In order for the planting material to become well-rooted, it is necessary to maintain a very high humidity in the "boy" (90-95%). About a month later the cuttings can be planted in a permanent place.

Reproduction by root offspring

This method is usually used to breed bush varieties on the site. Reproduction of blackberry root shoots is the procedure that is best conducted in May-June. The height of the stems of suitable offspring is about 10-15 cm. The seedling thickness should be at least 8 mm at the base, and the length of the root system - about 15-20 cm.

Reproduction by root cuttings

This technology is used for breeding creeping and shrubbery blackberries of those varieties that give too few root offspring. Reproduction of blackberry by cuttings is an operation that can be carried out in both autumn and spring. In November or the end of March the uterine bush is completely excavated and cut into several parts. You can also separate the roots from it no closer than 60 cm from the stems. If the operation is performed in the spring, the resulting planting material is immediately transferred to a permanent place. If the bush was dug in autumn, the root cuttings are stored in the basement until the spring (in wet sand).

Blackberry Bouncy Reproduction: features

Varieties of this variety usually have either creeping stems or semi-stems. Therefore, most often they are bred with apical layers. You can multiply an unmarked blackberry and by any other means. The only thing - you can not use the technology of root rooting for this variety. The fact is that with its application, new plants grow with spines.

Reproduction of blackberry by an unscrambled apical layer can be made and by some modified technology. This method is convenient because plants can be immediately planted in a separate bed. The difference from the usual technique is that the tip of the shoot is separated from the mother plant immediately. After that, it is placed in a small container with water, which you need to prick on the prepared bed. Then everything is done in the same way as in the usual way. That is, a hole or a furrow is located nearby, into which the top of the cuttings is placed.

As you can see, reproduction of blackberries is a rather complicated procedure. In any case, it is quite different from the methods of breeding most other garden berry crops. Sweeping and polusteljuschiesya varieties are best all plant apical layers. For shrubs, the propagation technique by root cuttings or offspring is more suitable. The main thing is to follow the chosen methodology exactly.
