Biography of Krylov - a famous fabulist

Ivan Andreevich Krylov, whose brief biography will be considered in this article, is the famous fabulist. He was also an interpreter, State Councilor, a member of the Russian Academy, published many journals, wrote both comedies and tragedies. In all his works, not only human, but also public vices are exposed, they all differ in sharp and bright language, satirical sharpness.

Krylov's biography: childhood, education

February 13, 1769 - this is the day when the future fabulist was born in Moscow, in the family of an army officer. During the Pugachev rebellion, his father defended the Yaitsk town, where he spent his early childhood Krylov. The upbringing of his son was handled by his mother - Maria Alekseevna. When the boy was 9 years old, his father died, and the family had a very hard time. Ivan mercifully took lessons from the teachers of the Lvov family, later joined the Kalyazinsky Zemsky court, then to the Tver magistrate. In 1782 Krylov moved to Petersburg, and from 1783 began to serve in the Treasury Chamber. In his spare time he taught foreign languages, music theory, mathematics, had the honor to get acquainted with some art connoisseurs and writers of the time.

Krylov began his literary career as a playwright (opera "The Coffee House", the tragedy "Filomena", the comedy "The Writer in the Hall" and so on, 1786-1788). Ivan Andreevich closely communicated with the actor Dmitrevsky, the playwright Plavilschikov. In the late 1780s he in his comedy "The Pranksters" ridiculed the famous playwright and his wife, for which he was excommunicated from the theater and public service. The fabulist Krylov, whose biography is full of unexpected turns, began working as a journalist, publishing the magazine "The Post of Spirits." In 1791, Ivan Andreevich founded a company that produced the magazine "Spectator". However, soon the publication of journals was banned due to ambiguous satirical and moralizing utterances.

In 1794 Krylov leaves to live in Moscow, in 1797 he becomes personal secretary of General Golitsyn, who soon falls into disgrace, and Krylov, on his own initiative, goes with him to exile and teaches the reading and writing of his children. At this time (1801-1803) Ivan Andreevich is engaged in a verse paraphrase of the psalms.

Biography of Krylov: writing fables

The first book with fables was published in 1809. In total, Krylov wrote more than 200 satirical works, and in 1843 the most complete edition was published - a collection of nine books. In many fables, cowardice, cruelty, greed are ridiculed, every work has a moral and moral meaning embedded in it. Some works describe the events of political and public life in Russia ("Crow and Chicken", "Dog Friendship", etc.) Decembrist Bestuzhev noted the pathos of Krylov's works, Pushkin and Zhukovsky spoke about the national character and the natural originality of the fables. However, even today these works are very popular, and some quotes from them serve as a guide to action or mock certain actions.

The great fabulist died on November 21, 1844, and was buried in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
