The future rebel was born August 17, 1960, in the director's acting family. His father, Leonard Penn, is the son of Jewish emigrants who moved to the United States from Russia and Lithuania in the early 1900s. The mother, who was called Aileen Ryan, is half Italian and half Irish, and also a Catholic. Of course, the genes affected the character of the young Sean. He was a middle-aged brother and adored hooliganism. In his youth, the brothers of Penn (his older brother Shawn was called Michael, and the youngest - Christopher) were with the sons of actor Martin Sheen - Charlie and Emilio, who also became actors.

To become an actor, young Sean did not even think, he was more interested in surfing. And he was thinking about the career of a policeman. However, not yet graduated from school, Sean Penn, being in the Los Angeles troupe, caught fire by acting.

The beginning of film career

Despite the fact that the local theater environment did not want to perceive him, in 1980 Sean decided to go to New York. But he gets to the cinema.
