Basic styles of family education and their advantages

In modern psychology and pedagogy of the education of young children of school age, there are many methods that are used to create a sense of responsibility, duty to parents and the motherland, the right attitude towards friends and peers, and so on. Any upbringing, regardless of the level of its democratic character, sets itself the goal of forming an integral personality that can set itself important human goals and tasks for the achievement of which efforts will be directed. However, among the wide variety of pedagogical practices, it is necessary to identify the main styles of family education, which favorably differ from all others, bearing a number of positive characteristics.

Leading teachers of modernity distinguish two basic styles of such education - controlling and democratic, each of which has its own advantages. As a result of the study of a group of children, it was found that with a controlling style of upbringing, they were more obedient, timid, suggestible, but at the same time not too persistent in achieving their goals, rather than in a democratic way. If, however, the democratic method was used in the formation of the personality , the children had an increased level of social activity, leadership skills with simultaneous presence of sensitivity (vulnerability, doubts and self-doubt). Thus, the styles of family education showed both advantages in some areas, and shortcomings in others. As a result of the research, many scientists came to the conclusion that the most correct is the mixed style, which includes the use of different approaches depending on the specific conditions of interaction with the child.

It is important to take into account the fact that every child needs to be given increased attention and care, since in this case he can become a full-fledged person. When using the method of "free education", which also received the widest distribution among many parents, children in large numbers have different toys, but they will never replace the attention of adults. This important factor should be known to every family that cares about that their child grew up to be a real person.

The psychology of family education also implies the study of four basic parameters of parental behavior:

  1. Parental requirements that contribute to the development of the emotional, communicative and intellectual sphere of the child.
  2. The main ways of communicating with children during the communicative process, where different styles of family education play an important role.
  3. Emotional support, which is expressed in the ability of parents to express a warm and friendly attitude, sympathy, love and pride in the success of their children.
  4. Parental control, expressed in their ability to influence the child and insist on the fulfillment of the requirements of adults.

As a result of numerous pedagogical studies, not only in terms of theoretical developments, but also practical results, it was found that the best option for the child is a combination of serious demands on the part of parents with democracy. And also with the provision of a choice of the way of execution of this or that commission to the child himself. Styles of family education and their use also depend on a number of factors that show the parents' ability to control their emotions and feelings, since many of them can not cope with their sensory sphere. In such parents, children are less competent and, as a rule, suffer from a lack of attention from adults.

Summarizing all of the above, it should be said that the psychology of family and family education is extremely important, because it is in the family that the child can get the most correct idea of the external world and its place in it. In those where love and harmony prevail, the child is maximally protected from all unfavorable external factors, as a result of which he will in the future strive to create a strong family as the most important element of a happy and fulfilling life.
