Children And TV

The flow of information from the TV is many times greater than the ability of the organs of perception of children.
It is known that most children watch TV for 4-6 hours a day. Often parents leave the child near the "blue screen", thinking that it will not do him harm.

A child, curious by nature, spends time exploring the world around him. He seeks to touch, touch, try. Most children quickly learn to turn the TV or DVD player on and off, especially the remote control. The constantly changing image on the TV screen attracts the child so much that it becomes uninteresting and boring for everything that happens in real life.

The ability of the brain most actively develops in the period from birth to three years. In the first 6 months after birth, the brain reaches 50% of its adult potential, at the age of 3 years - 80%. Thus, it is clear that the child has a huge memory potential, and only we, the adults, are responsible for what it will be filled with. It can be poems and good songs, stories and parables or famous expressions from our advertising on television.

Even without immersing in medical aspects in the early childhood TV enthusiasm (drowsiness, muscle lethargy, creates a threat of visual impairment), one can not fail to mention the overload of the perception of organs, as a result of which the child can experience various fears, unjustified aggression, problems with sleep. The flow of information coming from the screen repeatedly exceeds the limits of the child's perception and the ability to self-assess what he saw. The child sometimes catches one picture after another and can not establish a connection between the image and the text heard, because of which his brain begins to function fragmentarily. Thus, it can be firmly stated that an early acquaintance with the TV negatively affects the development of the child, which greatly reduces curiosity and makes it passive. In addition, in films, cartoons and especially in advertising, there are many aggressive colors, sharp and terrible sounds. All this affects the child's psyche extremely negatively.

Very often children in families complain about the lack of watching TV. Then the ether for them is only entertainment or even a kind of drug. Later, a child who grew up in such conditions will wait until all the necessary information comes from outside, because he does not learn to think independently, to use his ideas and thoughts. Children who started watching TV early and spend more than one hour a day near the screen experience a decrease in the level of visual imagery and a decrease in memory. These children do not observe tactfulness in communication, often make faces, ask superficial questions or simply do not ask, answer questions stereotypically. Children's interest in objects, facts is superficial, they have a primitive speech, they start to read later and badly retell. After once seen in the program, unexpected and inexplicable aggression may occur, because the activity and stresses that occur in children are involuntary. In addition, a strong view, critical thinking, creativity is hardly expressed. Will and desire to accomplish the task do not develop, because, sitting in front of the screen, the child is not active. Boredom does not stimulate a creative impulse.

Experts advise how you can later introduce the child to the TV and video. It is much better to stimulate his imagination and scientific interests by reading. It's nice to spend time together, making up stories, guessing the riddles. Playing musical instruments, creating a home orchestra, a puppet theater, making a shadow theater. Draw with pencils and paints, play with cubes and constructors, build cities and fairytale castles. Watch and tell him about the rainbow, insects, nature and trees, etc.
