For sure, many had to see the beautiful blue flowers of the veronica of the oak grove. It grows on forest glades, meadows, near shrubs. But to observe the beauty of this delicate plant is possible only on a sunny day, because in cloudy weather the blue flowers are hidden. It is important to note that veronica oak groove (see photo in the article) is used for medical purposes.

Botanical description

This plant species belongs to the genus Veronica of the Podorozhnikov family and is a herbaceous perennial. Depending on the place of growth creeping flower stems stretch from 10 to 45 cm on the stems you can see small soft hairs. The leaves of the plant have a slightly elongated ovoid shape with an incised-tootopic fringing. They grow on short cuttings. The length of the leaves is 1.5-3 cm, and their width is 1-2 cm. Due to the hairs, they have a slight fuzziness.

Blue-blue axillary flowers are collected in small brushes. A calyx for a flower is formed from four or five intergrown leaflets. Sometimes florets can have white fringing and dark veins. The diameter of the corolla is 10-15 mm. After flowering, the fruit appears on the plant, resembling small boxes about 3x4 cm in size. Inside are flat numerous seeds. Veronica oak groove has a thin, branchy rhizome.

Flower propagation

This plant can be found in Russia and Ukraine in all areas. Veronica chooses dry places in meadows and glades. Also, it is often planted in orchards near shrubs as an ornament. Some people like that the veronica of the oak groves grow on their plots. The description of the growing process is given below.

Variety of names

Given this widespread distribution, the veronica of the oak forest in different parts of the country can be called differently. Here are some of its names: wild forget-me-not, heart, heart-grass, zubchatka, dubravka, consumes, sheep grass, herb grass, cichon, ochkanka, anhirka, konotopets. On this variety of its names does not end, but in botanical encyclopedias this plant is called Veronica chamaedrys.

Collection and harvesting of plants

Veronica oakgrass flower is used in folk medicine. Many herbalists harvested plants in the period of their flowering, because at this very moment the maximum amount of nutrients is collected in them. In Veronica oak grove this period falls on the months from May to July.

In medicine, flowering shoots are used, which must be cut with sharp scissors. If there are spoiled or yellowed parts, they need to be removed. After collecting the raw material spread on the prepared tray with a thin layer. The layer should not exceed five centimeters. Dry raw materials need to be in a room where there is air access, for example, an attic or veranda is suitable for this. Here you can store already dried grass, packaged in paper bags. After two years, this medicinal raw material loses its force and becomes unsuitable.

It can be noted that in natural conditions, the Veronica Oakgrass plant has no odor, but after it has been dried, an unobtrusive aroma appears. At the use it feels a bit bitter.

Cultivation of a flower

Often, the Veronica oak grove is bred in the front gardens and garden areas. The process of growing is simple enough, because the plant is unpretentious and quickly takes root. For planting, the division method is used, but the flower can also grow from seeds. Growth requires access to sunlight and moderately fertile land. Planting a speedwell, it must be remembered that it does not tolerate a damp and heavy soil. You can land in autumn or spring. After the flowering has passed, the dried branches are cut off. For the winter, the plant is not sheltered.

Veronica oak groove: application in medicine for healing

Like many other herbs, Veronica was widely used by healers even during the Patriotic War. It could be collected in a forest in a clearing, and broths and infusions were prepared from it. Such medicines were given to drink in diseases of the liver and kidneys.

Now it is revealed that the herb contains some vitamins, tannins, saponins, aukubin, essential oils and other components. But unlike veronica medicinal, the chemical composition of this plant is not fully understood. Despite this, it was noted that drugs from this herb help with gynecological disorders, tuberculosis, bronchial asthma, gout, diabetes, oncological pathologies and during common colds.

So, Veronica oak wood has wound-healing, antifungal, expectorant, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory and haemostatic properties. Her herbalists are also recommended for gastritis with low acidity, during diarrhea, or with poor appetite. Prepared infusion of grass can also help if there are wounds, skin diseases, boils, burns. For these purposes, external application is advisable.

Possible recipes

You can prepare a medicinal broth so that the medicine is always at hand. To do this, take dried, crushed veronica oak and pour into hot water (2 tablespoons of raw material per 400 ml of liquid). For further preparation, a water bath is made and the potion is left for 15 minutes. After cooling, the infusion is fed through a strainer or gauze. The finished product is stored in the refrigerator, in the freezer. At room temperature, the medicine permeates for a couple of days and loses its healing properties. For internal use or treatment of skin diseases, it is better to prepare a fresh preparation from the grass daily.

There are also cooking recipes for internal use. In the thermos pour two cups of boiling water and fill it with two spoons of veronica (pre-dry and grind it). Tare tightly tighten and leave for the night. In the morning, the infusion is filtered into a container. This tool can be used not only inside, but also externally.

Another recipe is infusion. For preparation, measure 10 grams of ground raw material and drop into a glass or a cup. The container to the top is filled with boiling water and covered with a saucer. After two hours, the infusion is filtered through gauze, the cake is well squeezed and discarded. The liquid is used for treatment.

Recommendations for use

Ready infusion is usually taken inside half an hour before meals three or four times a day. At a time drink 1/3 or 1/2 cup. But it should be noted that although veronica oak groove is a good helper in some diseases, it is important to consult with a specialist before using it, since some methods of treatment may be incompatible and produce the opposite, not expected, effect.
