Bangkok, population: number and composition

The capital of Thailand - Bangkok - is one of the fastest growing cities in the southeast of the continent of Eurasia. Today, the residents of the Thai capital are proud of being part of a town that can challenge Singapore or Hong Kong. Annually statistics cite figures that indicate significant economic growth, as well as the fact that the population of Bangkok is growing at an incredible rate. Naturally, demographers are interested in what the real reason for this is: urbanization, migration flows, the predominance of fertility over mortality or something else?

Thailand is the country of happy

Thailand is one of the most developed countries in Southeast Asia. The name is of English origin and is translated as "Land of the Thais". There is a version that the word "thai" in the language of aborigines means "free", hence, Thailand is a country of free people. The Thai state covers an area of 514,000 km on two peninsulas: Indochina and Malacca (northern coast). The country has direct access to the South China Sea (the Pacific Ocean basin) and to the Andaman (Indian Ocean) seas. Like many countries in the Far East, Thailand is considered a densely populated country. Despite the small territory, about 8 million people live here, and this number is growing every year, especially in the capital Bangkok, whose population, however, is only 1/10 of the country's total population.

Residents of Thailand

The majority of Thai citizens (about 75%) are Thai. Nevertheless, it is a multi-populated country. 5% of its inhabitants are representatives of the largest nation in the world - the Chinese, about 5% are Malays, and the remaining 5% are representatives of different peoples: monks, foxes, Khmer, Akhs and Lao. However, not in all regions of the country this percentage is the same, for example, in Phuket, the number of Chinese is up to 30%, and Bangkok, whose population is mostly Thai, is flooded with Europeans at different periods, although statistics about it are often silent. By the way, the inhabitants of Thailand are not longevity, and the average life expectancy in the country, according to the Ministry of Health, is 67 for men and 71 for women. Thailand - the fourth (after Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore) in terms of living standards of the country in South-East Asia. And this is the main reason for the pride of the Thais.

What do we know about the capital of Thailand?

Bangkok, or Krung Thep Maha Nakhon is one of the most beautiful and beautifully developed cities in the southeast Asian region. One of the informal names of the capital is Venice of the East. In the city there are many canals, and the huge number of ramifications of the capital Chao Phraya River creates a visual similarity with the famous Italian city. Besides the fact that the city is the most important economic center, it is the largest cultural center in the East. After all, here are intertwined at once several cultures: European, Chinese, Thai, etc. It is thanks to this that Bangkok is known as one of the best cities for visiting tourists. In addition, it is an ideal place for shopping.

Location and population

The city is located at the mouth of the Chauphraya River, on the very spot where it flows into the Gulf of Thailand. Despite the fact that Thailand is a monarchical state, one of the most democratic cities in the world can be called its capital - Bangkok. The population of the city chooses its governor independently. After all, this giant megalopolis is also an independent province. By the way, the metropolitan area and the neighboring five districts together form the agglomeration Big Bangkok. The population of this administrative education, of course, is many times larger than the number of residents of the capital itself. Today, it is difficult to judge the true boundaries of the city, because the megacity daily absorbs nearby villages. The same applies to the population - in a matter of months the villagers turn into metropolitan residents. In addition, Bangkok has a huge number of visitors from different regions of Thailand, and from many countries, most often neighboring countries.

Bangkok - one of the largest megacities of the world

The fact that the capital of the Siamese state is one of the most beautiful cities in the world has been known for a long time. And many are convinced that Thailand is as densely populated as neighboring China, and they are naturally interested in the question: how many people live in Bangkok? Of course, China is still far from Thailand, yet it is one of the twenty most populous countries in the world. And its capital is one of the largest megacities on the planet. In terms of population, Thailand is close to France, Britain and Turkey.

For comparison

With the countries, it seems, sorted out. And what if we compare Bangkok and London (the population)? Where more? As of 2012, the number of inhabitants of foggy Albion prevailed over the population of Bangkok by almost one million 300 thousand. However, over the next two or three years, the Thai metropolis grew to 9 million, while the population of the British capital increased by only 300,000 people.

As for the other major European state - France, it is different here. Let's figure out where more population - in Paris or Bangkok? Of course, in the capital of Thailand, and 4 times. After all, in the French main city there are only two (with a small) million people. As you can see, Paris is far from Bangkok. In addition, if in Europe there is a tendency of population decline every year, in southeast Asia, on the contrary, it grows by the hour. At the same time, Thailand is a country with a fairly high standard of living, and this, of course, pleases.
