Despite the fact that this exotic fruit does not grow in our climate, it has long been known in Russia. But many people do not know anything about his benefits, nor about his unusual taste, nor about how to use it. Let's discuss the issue of avocados - how to eat it, how to choose correctly when buying, and much more.

About the benefits of avocado

This is one of the most useful fruits, thanks to which in many countries it is included in the list of basic food products. It contains a lot of substances necessary for the human body (vitamins A, E, B). By the content of potassium, which improves the work of the brain, the avocado will give "a head start" even a banana. The fruit has a high content of healthy fats, they help to lower the level of cholesterol in the blood and promote the proper functioning of the heart. The avocado is delicious, and it, despite the fact that it has a high calorie content, is often chosen for dietary nutrition. In cosmetology use its rejuvenating and beauty-restoring properties.

How to choose avocado

As it is, we will discuss later. Now let's talk a bit about the signs to choose it right, so as not to acquire an unripe or, on the contrary, overripe fruit (this can cause disappointment in its taste qualities). The degree of maturity can be determined by taking the fruit in the hand and squeezing it slightly. If it is soft, then it means that it's a very hard one, on the contrary. The ideal product for food - elastic, slightly punching with pressure. The appearance of the avocado (its color and shape) speaks only of belonging to a particular variety. They differ significantly from each other: green, black, globular, pear-shaped. The mature fruit is cut easily, has a juicy pulp of yellow color, greenish nearer to the edge. If the avocado has not yet reached the condition, it can be put in a dark dry place, wrapped in a newspaper, so it perfectly "rises."

How to eat avocado

And now we come to the main question about avocado - how it is eaten. This fruit is a really delicious and aromatic delicacy, which can be consumed as part of complex dishes, and independently, serving it as a garnish to meat or fish. Smearing the flesh on bread or crispy toast, you will get an excellent sandwich.

Deciding how to prepare an avocado, as it is, the fruit must be cleaned. This is done very simply. Cut it with a sharp knife, when you bump into a bone, just turn the halves in opposite directions, and they easily separate from each other. Remove the stone. Slightly cut the peel, hook it with a knife and pull. If you do not use the whole fruit, it can be stored for a while in the refrigerator: while it has a bone, the fruit remains fresh.

Preparation of dishes with avocados usually does not take much time, as this wonderful creation of nature is most often consumed in raw form and is not subjected to heat treatment - this is how the preservation of useful qualities and taste is achieved. There are a lot of recipes with avocados. As it is - a question that should not cause difficulties. I'll share one of my favorite types of quick snacks - "Avocado stuffed with shrimps." Cut the fruit, remove the stone, remove the skin. Fill the notch left over from the stone, ready with boiled shrimp. Pour sauce "Thousand Islands" or other, to your taste. Decorate with parsley and fresh cucumber. Delicious!
