One of the most delicious varieties of apples, according to consumers (not only in Russia, but all over the world), are the fruits of apple-tree "fuji". The demand for these apples is the highest in the world, because it is hardly possible to meet other fruits of this species that have real honey flavor in combination with dense and crisp flesh. So, the main character of this article is apple, a sort of "fuji". The most widespread this variety was in the US, Austria and China, where the production of such apples is put on stream. However, in the past 20 years, the apple tree "Fudge", the description of which you will find in the article, has been actively grown in the European part, including in Ukraine and Russia.

Features of "Fuji"

It was originally created by Japanese plant growers who tried to bring out a variety that could withstand both cold winters and droughty summer months. It should be noted, they managed to do it: the apple of "Fuji" is currently successfully grown all over the world, including in rather cool regions. An important point in this case is the choice of clone, which is used to grow apple, because it is its origin determines the maturation of fruits and the stability of wood, bark and fruit formations to unfavorable environmental factors. In the middle zone of Russia, the maturity of the fruits comes in the second half of October. Apple tree "Fudge" in this period looks very unusual: almost devoid of foliage branches are covered with large ruddy fruit.

Description of apple-tree "fuji"

The tree of this apple tree has a strong ability to grow. Under favorable conditions of maintenance and care, it can reach 4-6 meters in height. The apple of "Fuji", the description of which includes many items, including the shape of the crown, looks sometimes not very accurate, since branching takes place in different directions. The crown of the tree because of this often looks "shaggy". With the proper formation of the skeleton, the crown acquires a round-oval or spherical shape.

The bark on the stem is light brown with an admixture of gray color, wrinkling is not pronounced strongly. Young branches and shoots are colored more brightly, the bark on them is smooth, with a small number of mildly expressed lentils. The leaves of the "fuji" apple tree are typical for many varieties of this plant species: oval or lanceolate-oval, with a small pointed conic. The pubescence is markedly expressed only during the growth of the plate. Petioles are medium, located at an acute angle to the shoot. Flowering plants occur in the medium term. For better fruit setting, pollinating varieties such as Golden Delishes, Gala and Everest are recommended.

What do the apples of "Fuji" look like?

The fruits of the "fuji" apple tree are considered to be one of the most attractive on the market: a regular rounded shape, with an even matte skin, lacking points and impregnations. Blush bright pink or red color occupies almost the entire surface of the fetus. Flesh pulp from white to light cream color, juicy, crispy, very sweet and fragrant. The core is not large, the seminal chambers are thin, oblong. The weight of the fruit reaches 200-250 g. The apples can be kept till the new harvest, for this it is necessary to place them in a cool room or refrigerator.

Features of care, diseases and pests

Fruiting apple-tree "fuji" can enter from the second year after planting. Fruits form regularly, but with a certain tendency to periodicity. To avoid overloading the tree with fruits, which can affect the crop of the next year, it is recommended to remove a small number of ovaries. The main problem in cultivating this variety is the low resistance of the plant to bacterial infections, therefore it is necessary to pay attention to the corresponding treatments with special means. Resistance to diseases such as scab and powdery mildew, the variety is average. In particularly hot years, the settling of a tree can be observed. Care of the plant consists in regular sanitary pruning, treatment from pests that have appeared, watering and applying fertilizing.
