Little Zoya survived the war, she was 10 years old when she started. The war took her father and younger brother from her. Especially hard it was necessary during the blockade, as well as to all inhabitants of Leningrad. When my mother fell ill, I had to independently extract water, defend the queues for bread. Meals were not enough, they lived half-starving. Once they rescued a cousin, passing through the military crew a parcel with provisions. So Zoya Vinogradova survived.

Zoya's family held out until the discovery of the "road of life" in 1942. They were taken out of the blockaded city by the frozen Ladoga Lake. Along the way one of the cars fell through the ice. Then the bypass was built about 8 hours. Then - a long road in a train, in a freight car.

Little Zoya and his mother were evacuated to one of the Kuban stanitsas, which had to be abandoned immediately because of the sudden emergence of German occupation.
