At least that's the way it should be. But how really? The article will consider the plot of the film "Land of the Dead", the actors and characters they played.

Dead zone

The film tells about the period when the whole earth was overrun by the insurgent dead. But the city of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania has not yet been able to capture them, because the local authorities have enough resources and people to keep the defense.

Despite the apocalypse, social inequality among the population has not gone away. The wealthiest people took a high-rise in the center of the city and live for their own pleasure, destroying endless supplies of food. And the rest of the citizens of Pittsburgh have to make dangerous forays around the perimeter to provide themselves with at least the most necessary.

For a long time they tolerated such an existence, but patience was over, and the population split into groups. Some people preferred to live as they did. Others dreamed of leaving the city forever. And still others were going to overthrow the current government. But in this confrontation they completely forgot about those who are behind the perimeter.

To see with my own eyes, because of what specifically rebelled the population, alas, will not work. The people are initially unhappy, and many already represent which side will be occupied in this conflict.

Of course, most people from the "camp of the poor" can understand, they are tormented by hunger, disease and the absence of a roof over their heads. But what does Reilly Denbro complain about, the role of which was played by Simon Baker ("The Mentalist", "The Devil Wears Prada", etc.)? He is the commander of the "Dead Force", he is respected by many, and it is difficult to name Mr. Denbro's beggars. In fact, he should rejoice that he became a citizen of the only city not captured by the dead. But Riley still aspires to the North, where, according to rumors, there's nothing to do. And for the sake of this goal, he is ready even to make a deal with the owners of the Fiddlers Green skyscraper.

Another thing his assistant is Charlie Hawks, played by Robert Joy (Water World, The Hills Have Eyes, CSI: The Crime Scene, etc.). He, too, is going to leave, but he can be understood, because Charlie is the object of constant ridicule on the part of his colleagues in the detachment. The reason for this is not clear, maybe it's all about his appearance. In any case, Riley is much calmer in the company with him, because Charlie has a very useful skill.

In the movie "Land of the Dead" actors tried to play characters that were not deprived of a sense of humor. And here you can not argue, there are several really funny moments. Let and slightly cruel. For example, the girl Slag, played by the Italian actress Asia Argento ("Queen Margot", "Purple Diva", "Tiptoe", etc.) considers a joke to fire at his comrade in arms. Although such antics are fully justified, as recently she was locked in a cage with two hungry dead men.

Taking advantage of the fact that not all members of the "Dead Force" support Reilly Denbro, Cholo was able to assemble his team. At his disposal was the armored car "Patrol", equipped with rocket launchers and all sorts of technologies. So, some actors who appeared in the film "Land of the Dead" appeared there as a crew. For example, "Pretty Woman", whose role went to Joanne Boland ("The X-Men: Apocalypse", "The Legged", etc.), was responsible only for the management of the "Patrol". Perhaps that's why she was not even given a name.

According to the idea of the creators of the film "Land of the Dead" actors had to play characters who are trying to survive in a world full of zombies. But in reality, everything looks as if they are people of universal evil, and the dead are just tired of their tyranny, so united to take revenge.

It's strange that the film does not explain the presence of signs of intelligence in zombies. But they definitely are. Otherwise, how to understand that some of them do the work that they did during their lifetime. For example, a gas tanker continues to make quite conscious actions on the territory of his gas station. And members of the orchestra still play a musical composition, albeit not very melodic. In general, all in business. So it's not for nothing that the film was called "Land of the Dead", because there is nothing more to do here.

There is a problem!

Even if we assume that all the actors of the film "The Land of the Dead" coped with the roles, there is a shortage of the picture. The fact is that there is not really a "bad guy" here. Of course, the default antagonist is the owner of the skyscraper - Paul Kaufman (Dennis Hopper). But it was not noticed how he kills someone or something takes away from citizens of Pittsburgh. Yes, he has a lot of money, so he lives in the suite, while others can not afford it. But this is normal, because this is the truth of life. And the zombie apocalypse only partially worsens the situation.
