Why does it rain - where does it come from?

Not many people think about why it's raining or snowing. Goes and goes, only the weather is bad, it spoils the mood. And yet this is an interesting natural phenomenon that will not be out of place for everyone, since after becoming parents, people often hear such seemingly simple questions: "Why does it rain or does the sun shine?". It is not necessary for Krokham to explain everything in detail, but a six- or seven-year-old is already fully capable of understanding a serious explanation. So it is better to know the answer to the question that a child can ask when reminding about an umbrella and bad weather.

Their school chemistry course, many know that water can remain in several aggregate states: solid, liquid and gaseous. And from the liquid to the gaseous state it passes almost constantly and the more intensively, the higher its temperature. If you leave a puddle of water on the table, after a while it will dry up - evaporate. Similarly, it evaporates from rivers, lakes, from leaves of plants, soil - from any surfaces. She got there from the underground rivers and lakes that feed the rain that passed before. So, this water evaporates, turns into water vapor.

But in nature everything is balanced: both on the lid of a pot of boiling water, and high in the troposphere, where the air temperature is significantly different from that observed near the ground, condensation forms, that is, drops of water. When they become very heavy, that is, they accumulate a lot, storm clouds are formed , and then the drops fall to the ground under the influence of gravity - the rain is coming! Water is collected in streams, rivulets, eventually its remains can reach one of the oceans. Everything starts from the beginning. Of course, this process is described somewhat simplistically, but without serious omissions.

This phenomenon is known as a cycle or a whirlpool of water in nature. However, the latter term is somewhat incorrect, since a maelstrom is usually called another phenomenon, which has nothing to do with precipitation.

This whole little story explains why it's raining. Sometimes it's snowing instead, it's a drop of water that freezes and becomes snowflakes - ice crystals. Grad is an even more interesting phenomenon, it occurs when condensate, that is, droplets of water collide with very cold air, then some of them may freeze, but not become snowflakes, and turn into hailstones. Large Hail can form if there is a strong upward flow of air in the cloud, which does not allow precipitation to fall out for quite a long time. When this cold cloud collides with warmer air, a thunderstorm begins, hail falls out. This phenomenon, however, does not need to be confused with icy rain, snow crock or rain with snow - they are significantly different.

After the rain, especially if the weather is warm, even hot, you can see the rainbow. When the rain is mushroom, that is, the sun is not hidden behind the clouds, it can be seen right in the rain. It appears when the sun shines through small droplets of evaporating or falling water. This beautiful natural phenomenon is very pleasing to children, so sometimes to the question: "Why is it raining?" - You can even answer: "In order for people to see the rainbow."
