Sterilization of women: all for and against

The female organism is created for the continuation of the genus, and the main function of the woman is motherhood. When she refuses this, there are very good reasons for that. As a rule, the sterilization of women by surgery is difficult to carry both physically and morally. And the sterilization necessary for medical reasons is even more complicated.

In general, female sterilization consists in the need to tie up the fallopian tubes, which, due to their deep arrangement, complicate the operation. Since surgical intervention in this case should have a strong testimony, a similar procedure is performed only under strict medical recommendations. The reasons for sterilization should be several:

  1. Ectopic pregnancy
  2. Unsuccessfully performed cesarean section
  3. Personal desire of a woman who no longer wants to have children.

About half a century ago, women were sterilized by bandaging pipes, but this method did not give a 100% result. He assumed the need to cut the abdominal cavity, then to bandage the tubes. As a rule, such sterilization was carried out as a concomitant surgical intervention in any other operation (for example, cesarean section). Because few of the women will agree to break the integrity of the skin and open the abdomen exclusively for this purpose.

At the present time, there is an active use of special clamps, which can then be removed if necessary. As practice shows, the reproductive capacity of women is almost always restored in all cases.

There are several ways to conduct an operative intervention:

  1. Laparotomic (this method just involves cutting the abdominal cavity in order to later be able to bandage the tubes).
  2. The method of laparoscopy, which is that a woman makes several punctures of the walls of the abdominal cavity.
  3. Method of culture. In this case, the surgeon gets access to the tubes through the vagina.

But female sterilization, the consequences of which can be different, requires a certain moral and physical preparation. It must be remembered that this is one of the most reliable methods of contraception, but the process can be irreversible. Therefore, taking such a decision, a woman needs to weigh everything, to study the possible consequences and the reason that is the basis of the decision.

There are several consequences that may entail the sterilization of women. So, general anesthesia can lead to aspiration (in this case, vomit gets into the respiratory tract). Rarely, but still there are complications such as postoperative adhesions, wounds of the abdominal organs, as well as inflammatory processes and the inconsistency of the sutures.

A woman after such an operation is not allowed to get out of bed within a day, after this period is allowed and eat. With a successful operation, the patient is in the hospital for about three days, and taking medication is not prescribed.

It is necessary to consider both advantages and disadvantages of this procedure. One of the main drawbacks is the relative irreversibility of the process, but sterilization of women surgically has certain advantages. Thus, an operation once performed allows a woman not to burden herself with the problem of contraception. And, as many doctors believe, this surgery significantly reduces the likelihood of an epidemic of appendages, because the main way of getting the infection is the fallopian tubes, and they turn out to be blocked.

But, taking such a decision, a woman should consult a doctor and weigh all the pros and cons.
