Why do we need an internal joint?

An internal joint CVER is a small part, usually consisting of wear-resistant rubber. This spare part by its presence ensures a long service life to other parts (in this case it is the SHRUS). The main task of the anther is to protect the internal mechanism from the negative impact of road dust, moisture, sand and water.

The internal joint CVS has the following functions:

  1. Effective protection of lubricants from contamination.
  2. Grease retention within the friction parts of the hinge.
  3. Protect the hinge from dust, debris, dirt and water.

What will happen if this part loses its properties?

If this part suddenly loses its integrity and tightness, the SHRUS will lose its lubricant. And this, in turn, leads to a decrease in its service life. Due to the violation of the integrity of the dust joint, the internal joint lets through all the abrasive substances, which in no way contribute to the smooth operation of the mechanisms of the car. That is why the long life of the CV joint can be guaranteed only by a sealed anther.

When should I replace?

To change this part it is necessary right after cracks appeared on its surface. And even after the appearance of small deformations, do not neglect the replacement, since dust can get through even 0.5-millimeter holes, not to mention water.

What is it made of?

As it was mentioned above, the inner joint shroud is made of rubber. Only it is slightly different from the one that is part of tires and many other products. The dust is made from a special grade of rubber with the use of a silicone component, which significantly increases its resistance to environmental influences. Of these components, the modern dust joint of the joints is produced. The size of this part is not taken into account. Anther, no matter what diameter it is, should provide reliable protection of the CV joints from dust, water and dirt for many thousands of kilometers.

The very detail of the construction is a small piece of the corrugated conical tube. This is how every inner dust joint of the SHRUS ("Mazda-3" including) is arranged.

As you can see, this part has a twisty surface, which provides it with less load when turning the steel tube.

How to choose an internal joint CV joint?

It is important to observe not only the frequency of replacement, but also the criteria for selecting this part. Before buying, always check the dust cover for touch. Motorists recommend turning the folds of this part 360 degrees and then look at their surface. A quality anther will have a whole, undamaged surface. The fake changes its shape, and small cracks form on its surface. Sometimes it even changes color. Anther in a car bends several dozen times a day, what will happen to it tomorrow, if already after the first bend it is deformed? So always check the part before buying it.
