Why do we need a language? Why study languages?

We often hear that you need to know your native language, you need to know other languages. But for what purpose? Why study languages? The funny thing is that most often this is told to their children by parents who themselves do not know any other language, except their own.

But we have a wonderful opportunity to transmit all information through speech and recording.

What is the Russian language for?

Like any other native language, Russian unites the country's population. And in a specific case - even many countries that once existed in the union called the USSR. That is, one link reunites the minds of a huge part of the continent of Eurasia - a fairly powerful argument, is not it? But the modern state of the language leaves much to be desired.
