Who is punk? The essence of subculture

Most people born under the Soviet Union have a negative attitude towards such a subculture as punks. And now not all young people are familiar with this concept. Many citizens think that this is just a group of people in strange clothes and with painted hair, but what they are, why they do all this is incomprehensible. There is no unambiguous definition of who punk is, as there is no definition of any subculture.

It is known that this current was born in the 70s of the last century in the United Kingdom and the United States. Basically, the reason for the appearance of punks was a protest against the fate of the format in which he was at that time. That is, the genre arose in the musical environment, and then spread to other forms of culture. In fact, who is punk? This is a person protesting against all that he does not like or does not fall within the scope of his concept.

Based on the addiction to such a musical direction as punk rock, and there was a subculture. Punks can not listen to any other music, they do not accept political culture and culture in the notion that others represent it. It is believed that these people are real egoists, they care only about themselves and do not pay attention to the feelings of others. This is a wrong opinion, because punks care about those who are close to them in spirit, supports their opinion.

Today, this current is very popular among young people who want to stand out from the crowd, to show their uniqueness. Representatives of the subculture accept only their music, therefore practically in every country there are their punk bands. It is difficult to understand this movement in Russia, but there are musicians working in this style.

Answering the question about who such a punk, immediately comes the thought of tattoos, painted hair, sticking out hair, jewelry, cosmetics and unusual clothes with leather straps. But do not think that for these people the outfit is in the first place. Real punks are very smart, they know how to think and express their civic position. Another thing is that among the representatives of this trend there are many who do not understand its essence at all. Many of them just dress up, behave boorishly, get into fights, drink and use drugs, thereby distorting the notion of who punk is.

There are several sub-genres in the musical punk direction. It's punk rock, pop punk, skate punk. The latter appeared in the United States in the 80s of the twentieth century, and reached its heyday in the 90s. This subculture mainly causes negative associations, and its representatives radiate a negative and a protest against the whole world, but skate punk stands out for its cheerfulness and optimism. Many songs are very funny and humorous.

Drawing a conclusion, we can say that in punk culture there is nothing wrong. These people boldly express their opinion, not being afraid of the reaction of others, and have every right to it. But the problem is that young people do not understand the essence of the subculture and are chasing only the wrapper: colorful hairstyles, unusual make-up. Punk is, first of all, a way of life, and such a movement as skate punk suggests also the rejection of drugs and alcohol. Many representatives of the subculture lead a healthy lifestyle, so do not discriminate against colored young people, they only express their position and have every right to it.
