Who are the brahms?

Who is kvohchet in the yard?

On the birdy yard, you just can not meet anyone: from small quails to large and important turkeys, from screaming geese to imposing indotecks. But still the most famous in the bird's yard is a chicken. Just chickens in our time there are so many breeds that farmers, who lived a couple of centuries ago, just could not keep their surprise, get them to get to us today.

They breed and breed new breeds of chickens in different countries, but they invariably spread to other countries of the world. So, for example, such a breed caught on well with us, like chickens of brahma. And the beginning of this breed was laid in North America in the XIX century. It is well known that these hens were registered in 1874, and it was from this time that they began, let's say, a triumphal procession around the world.

Why do they appreciate the breed of brahma?

Let's start with the fact that among the rocks obtained by crossing (the so-called crosses), three variations are known: egg, meat and meat-egg. Brahma belongs to the third direction. They were taken out for the purpose of obtaining both meat and eggs. However, it so happened that over time they became more and more fattened. There are facts when adult cocks under the weight of their own weight barely kept on their feet. So meat obviously prevailed over egg production.

But everything is not so rosy in these chickens

And later more and more attention was paid to purely decorative features of the breed, because these chickens are very beautiful: they have magnificent feathers and peculiar "panties" on their paws. And cocks in general are considered handsome, because they have a full chest, bright catkins and a beautiful, albeit short, tail. In general, today these birds are bred basically as a decorative breed. The most famous brahma is light and dark, but in some cases the color is red, pale yellow and partridge.

That is, in this example, you can trace not only the geography of distribution of chickens around the world, but also how can the tendencies to grow them change: from egg-meat through meat to decorative.

This does not mean, of course, that the owners will not wait for the eggs from these chickens, but the productivity has clearly fallen, and this is a fact. And note that egg-laying falls on those individuals that are more than two years old, and on average it is 100-120 eggs per year (by comparison: Loman Brown has an average of 300-310 eggs per year, and in Haysex Brown - up to 360 pieces ).

The difference, of course, is weighty.
