The mighty emperor Shah Jahan, being a 15-year-old boy, fell in love with the daughter of the chief minister, but his father did not allow the young people to be together, because for political reasons the young ruler had to marry the Persian princess. Islam allows a man to have up to four wives, so soon Shah Jahan married his beloved Murtaz-Mahal.

19 years of a happy marriage were interrupted by the death of Murtaz. A woman died of blood loss during 14 births. Do not describe the words of Shah Jahan's grief. For 8 days he did not leave the quarters, did not eat or drink anything. When he appeared, the courtiers did not recognize their emperor - it was a worn out hunched elder. Then he declared mourning: in all his possessions one could not listen to music, wear bright clothes, laugh. The whole country was plunged into darkness, and Shah Jahan himself swore to build an extraordinary beauty tomb for his wife and named after her - the Taj Mahal.

India did not have an architectural structure more beautiful than this. The palace has a very complex structure, not for nothing that it was built by 20 thousand workers for 22 years.

During the construction of the palace complex geometric calculations were carried out, new building principles were used. The structure is erected from a fine white marble, consists of one large dome, four smaller ones and four more minarets. All the halls are decorated with unusual patterns and precious stones.

Many people agree that the place where the Taj Mahal is located is the most beautiful in India, and there are no buildings that can compete with it at all.
