Elizovo - the international airport (Kamchatka). Other airports in Kamchatka Territory

The harsh conditions of Kamchatka prevent the construction of good land roads. But in our age of aeronautics, civil and military aircraft are helping out. Thirteen airports are located on the peninsula, there are seven landing areas. But which airport in Kamchatka is the most important? And which of them has the status of an international one? Our article will tell about it. We will also consider the services of the main air harbor of the Kamchatka Territory. It is important to know which flights depart from it. Also for tourists, information about public transport routes linking the air harbor to the city will be interesting.

Federal state-owned enterprise (FKP) "Airports of Kamchatka"

To improve the activities of all air sites on the peninsula and serve the air transportation in 2010, a unified state company was created. It included FGU Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka Aviation and FSUE Koryak Aviation Enterprise. Thus, under the unified start of the federal state-owned enterprise "Airports of Kamchatka", eleven hubs were merged: Ozernovsky, Ust-Kamchatsk, Sobolevo, Nikolskoe, Milkovo, Tigil, Palana, Ossora, Pakhachi, Manila and Tilichiki. Also, the FCF included seven smaller airfields, which can be called landing areas: Kamenskoye, Slate, Achayvayam, Apuka, Middle Pahachi, Khailino, and Talovka. One hundred and ninety-six employees are employed at this enterprise.

And what is the name of the main airport in Kamchatka? Its name comes from the nearest town of Elizovo. But this hub is not far from the capital of the region, so it is often called the airport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

History of aeronautics on the peninsula

In this harsh and wild edge everything began with military aviation. The first airfields appeared here in the thirties of last century. In Yelizovo, the 248th Kamchatka air squadron was based. But on the last day of 1947, the Far Eastern Civil Aviation Administration issued an order to remove the airfield from the Russian Air Force and create an independent unit.

In the fifties this was the only civilian airport. Kamchatka received an air link with Khabarovsk in 1958. A year before that, a runway was built, capable of accepting IL-12 and IL-14 airliners. Immediately after that, the first flight on the route Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Moscow was carried out by car "Tu-104". In the late fifties, the construction of the air station building and the hotel with it was completed. Since 1969, the airport began to receive the Yak-40, and a decade later - the L-410. Elizovo received the international status in 1995.

The services

In the summer of 2016, after a long reconstruction, the hub again opened its doors to passengers. A new runway was built. Now it can accept fully loaded Boeing (even super heavy 747), Airbus A310, An-124, IL-96 and Tu-204. A new command and control center was also put in place, modern light-signal system and radio-technical equipment were installed.

Unfortunately, innovations did not affect the sphere of passenger service. аэропорт (Камчатка) по-прежнему состоит из небольшого терминала. The international airport (Kamchatka) still consists of a small terminal. And the conditions there are the most spartan. However, there is a mother and child room in the Yelizovo airport, baggage packing, a luggage room. On the second floor there are cash desks for the sale of air tickets. There is also a hall for VIP passengers. For 3,700 rubles a passenger can pass all pre- or post-flight procedures in one room, including passport and customs control. The cost includes also the services of a porter.

Scoreboard

The airport (Kamchatka, Yelizovo) accepts many regular flights from different cities of Russia. Aeroflot brings passengers from Moscow (Sheremetyevo), and Russia from Vnukovo. The most popular flights are in Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Yakutsk.

Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise also performs internal air transportation of passengers and cargoes on the peninsula. In addition to domestic transportation, Elizovo accepts aircraft from abroad. Mostly they follow the resorts of Southeast Asia - to Bangkok and Phuket (Thailand), Nha Trang (Vietnam). But there are also seasonal flights to Anchorage (Alaska, USA) and Osaka (Japan).

How to get to the city

The international airport (Kamchatka) is located directly in the city of Elizovo. A small road leads to Magistralnaya Street, which is on the outskirts of the city, and leads through the villages of Dvurechye, Krasny, Nagorny, Novy and Pionersky directly to the northeastern tip of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is necessary to go twenty nine kilometers. The only way for a passenger to get to the airport at night is to call a taxi. And in the daytime, a city bus runs to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at number 104.
