In principle, the answer to this question could be formulated in a nutshell, and not to be mistaken at the same time - the most expensive. But this would be the answer to the question of the best crossover, but not about the optimal. Leaving aside dreams we will pass directly to crossovers for live people. Just note that in order to avoid reproaches in advertising, we will not name specific models and brands, but note the basic principles.

The first thing that should become decisive is not even a budget, but a size. The fact is that often, taking as a basis for their reasoning the budget, people are choosing not an optimal crossover for themselves, but the best available on the market within its limits. Obviously, as a result, it turns out that when you go on a picnic, which is, as it were, the main goal of acquiring a crossover, someone is out of the way, or there is not enough space for all your things in the luggage compartment.

In principle, all crossovers are either five- or seven-seat, but in fact, subcompact crossovers are quadruple, and their luggage compartment is acceptable only for trips to the supermarket, and even if there are not too many purchases. Therefore, the subcompact crossover is suitable for bachelors (both sexes) or a family of two people, a maximum of three people. Here it is necessary to adhere to the general rule that consider the constant veneers of your family plus two. That is, if there are four of you in the family, then, if possible, it is more desirable to stay on the seven-seat crossover, the class is slightly lower than in the five-seat crossover. Six-seater simply do not produce.

The second is the engine power. The matter is that many approach to it from positions, that the power of the engine should concern only racers or daredevils. In fact, everything is not so. The engine power determines not only the maximum speed, but also how fast you will leave the intersection, or how calm and safe you will be doing, for example, overtaking maneuvers or simply when traveling in cities with strong altitude differences.

Therefore, the optimal engine for a five-seat compact crossover should be of the order of 2.0 liters (plus minus 0.2-0.4) and a power in the range of 140 to about 180 hp. For medium-sized (seven-seat crossovers), the power should be more, somewhere around 3.0 liters, but not less than 2.5 with a power of about 200 and above. Of course excessive power is also not needed, because the engine will be too gluttonous. And in general, the recommended power is considered so, about 100 horses per ton. The car should have a small excess of power, especially since you may need it when traveling in the mountains or transporting the fruits of your dacha.

Another factor that should not be neglected when choosing a crossover is its strength. After all, if we exclude the cases when the crossover was bought exclusively by paying tribute to fashion, then it is bought for practicality and, at least to some extent, off-road capabilities. For example, for trips to the country, picnics and just country walks. And here the Russian roads will make themselves felt, you just have to get off the highway and drive a little on the primer. Therefore, strength becomes one of the priorities. Unlike the previous paragraphs, there are quantitative characteristics that could not be operated on. And that's why the brand becomes the benchmark, but not in terms of its premium or promotion, but how much it is known as a manufacturer of reliable and robust machines.
