What is bronchitis, why it arises, how it manifests itself and how it is treated?

What is bronchitis, and why does it occur? Bronchitis is an infectious and inflammatory disease that affects the mucous membrane of the bronchial tree. A similar disease can be caused by both viral and bacterial infectious agents. Of the viruses, bronchitis is most often provoked by rhinoviruses, Coxsackie viruses, parainfluenza and influenza.

As for bacteria, among them, the most common cause of bronchitis is chlamydia, hemophilia, and streptococci. It should be noted that bronchitis almost never develops when the general and local immunity is at a sufficiently high level. Most often, this pathology occurs when the protective properties of the body as a whole or at least the mucous membrane of the bronchial tree significantly weaken. It is in this case that bacteria and viruses practically do not have problems for free distribution and unlimited reproduction.

Symptoms

Those patients who suffered the disease, for a long time remembered what bronchitis is. The fact is that this pathology has a number of very unpleasant symptoms. Especially memorable in this regard is abstructive bronchitis.

This is due to the fact that in the case of its development, patients often experience such a symptom as respiratory failure. In this case, such a state has a negative impact on all systems of human organs, including the nervous system. In ordinary bronchitis, manifestations are much softer. Its symptoms are composed of common symptoms, the main one being coughing. The general clinical symptoms include elevated body temperature, decreased performance, headache. As for the cough, it is often painful for bronchitis. At the same time, coughing attacks can occur not only in the daytime, but also at night, preventing him from sleeping, thereby contributing to an even worse deterioration in the general condition of the patient. First cough is usually dry. In the future, with it goes sputum. It often has various pathological impurities. In most cases, purulent discharge appears in their quality. Where a rarer option is the appearance in the sputum of traces of blood. This indicates a fairly serious course of the disease. So to get an idea of what bronchitis is, you can only determine exactly which symptoms accompany this pathology.

Treatment of bronchitis

Previously, before the advent of evidence-based medicine, badger fat in bronchitis was widely used. Naturally, it was not necessary to talk about any significant therapeutic effect. To date, whole schemes for the treatment of bronchitis have been developed. Most often, patients are prescribed antitussive drugs, NSAIDs, and expectorant drugs. Like most other diseases, this pathology is easier to prevent than to continue to treat it. The population must necessarily know what bronchitis is and what factors contribute to its development. Only in this case, prevention will be truly effective.
