What are polyps: diagnosis and other

The polyp is located directly in the uterus and creates an obstacle to the normal attachment of the fetal egg (embryo). Polyps can be not only a cause, but also a consequence of infertility. Quite often they can be evidence of the presence of hormonal disorders interfering with pregnancy. Therefore, only after removal of the polyp appears the probability of pregnancy.

What are polyps

Polyp is the excessive growth of the endometrium (the mucous membrane of the uterus) from the wall of the uterus into its cavity.

Types of polyps

Most often the polyps are round in shape and consist of the body and legs. Polyps are:

- glandular fibrous;

- Fibrous;

- glandular;

- adenomatous.

What are polyps? Causes of the appearance of polyps

The polyp is a focal outgrowth of the endometrium, something like its excess. Monthly endometrium under the influence of hormones should be updated. But if in the body there is a violation of the estrogen-progesterone hormone balance in favor of estrogens, then the endometrium is no longer able to fully reject. Therefore, within a few cycles, the endometrial polyp is formed . And also polyps can arise because of:

- violations of the endocrine system in diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, obesity, etc .;

- disorders of the hormonal background;

- transferred injuries of the uterine cavity after abortion, scraping, intrauterine contraception, etc .;

- psychological disorders;

- immunodeficiency;

- inflammation of the pelvic organs.

How often does this problem occur?

The percentage of detection of endometrial polyps does not exceed 9-20% of cases. Usually polyps are formed in women with endocrine infertility (disorder of the adrenal cortex, polycystic ovary syndrome , etc.).

Probability of pregnancy

What are polyps, and can they interfere with pregnancy? The small size of the polyp does not pose a threat to pregnancy. But if there is a polyp, the IVF procedure is not carried out, because the impossibility of implantation of the fetal egg is too great . Preferably, IVF after hormonal correction (removal of polyps), namely 2-3 months after the polyp has been removed.

Diagnosis of the polyp

Most often a woman does not feel something unpleasant, so you can detect a polyp only on a planned ultrasound. On the polyp can indicate disorders of the menstrual cycle: insufficient intermenstrual secretions, increased blood loss during menstruation, bleeding outside the cycle. If the polyps are large, there may be pain resembling contractions. First of all, the presence of the endometrial polyp is established by means of ultrasound monitoring, hysterography (examination by X-ray equipment), as well as hysteroscopy, by which the polyp is removed.

What are polyps of the uterus? This is a problem for which a timely solution is required. Therefore, one should not forget about the objective admissibility of the appearance of such trouble and it is necessary to consult a doctor at the first appearance of painful sensations.
