We follow the rules of behavior on ice

With the advent of winter, everyone wants something interesting, accessible only in this cold season. What could be better in a frosty day than ice skating? After all, it's excitement and fun, laughter and joy, sports and recreation at the same time. It's so wonderful in the company of friends to skate on a cold winter night! And the frost becomes invisible, and a lot of positive emotions are ensured.
Those who for some reason can not go skating, still can have fun on the ice. Most often these are children, they have their own skating rink - most of them skate well and without skates. It can be an ice-covered area near a hill or a small frozen pool.

Nevertheless, if you do not want to turn a pleasant pastime into a nightmare with injuries and bruises, you should remember a few simple points, which are the rules for safe behavior on ice. They are not so many, and most of them are completely natural, so it will be easy to observe them.

How not to fall under the ice?

One of the main rules: if the rink is not artificial, but the crust of ice on the reservoir, exercise maximum caution, especially on the first visit. On the street there must be a frost of not less than 100 C. And the important thing is the condition that this temperature should not last the first day. The basic rules of safety on ice can be observed intuitively. There are no clear figures, there are simple nuances. The main ones are:

1. If the winter has just begun, or there has been a prolonged warming (temperature about zero), then it is necessary to wait for a good freezing, from 3 to 5 days. The waiting time depends on the degree of frostiness - the colder, the fewer days will be needed to form a thick crust of ice.
2. The deeper the reservoir, the longer it freezes. A shallow pond can freeze very quickly, but a special caution is required with the river.
3. Closer to the shore, ice forms faster than in the center. Therefore, be careful, conquering the unknown places.
4. If you are skating, noticed cracks in the ice layer, or the fact that it is very shining in some places, urgently select another section of the rink for skating.

If you skate on artificial ice, or on a perfectly frozen water reservoir, the danger of falling under the ice does not threaten you. Nevertheless, on any rink there are rules of behavior on the ice, which must be observed for their own safety and for the safety of others.

How to protect yourself from falls?

To protect yourself from injuries, try to stay well on your feet. If this does not work out yet, go for a drive, slightly bending your knees, maybe even sitting down. Thus, if you fall, there will not be a sharp blow to your head. You either fall into your hands, softening the blow, or just sit on the ice. Do not make sharp movements and avoid those people who behave inadequately and can push or knock you down. Observing these rules of behavior on the ice, you will save yourself from bruises and dislocations. Non-compliance can even lead to such grave consequences as a concussion and fractures.

How not to harm others?

And, finally, we will discuss the rules of behavior on ice concerning the safety of other visitors to the ice rink. First of all, if you are skating, it's simply not allowed to make different virtuosic pas when other people are nearby. Skates are harmless as long as they glide along the ice surface, but they can be waved in all directions only in solitude or in figure skating under the supervision of the coach. Otherwise, you risk serious injury to a person nearby.

There are other simple nuances. Regardless of whether you are in skates or in ordinary shoes, you should not rush on ice at a frenzied pace, if you do not know how to get around obstacles. To knock down visitors to the rink is not the best idea, but it can even end with an "ambulance" visit. Do not push, passing by other people. If someone fell, it would be nice to give a hand and help get up.
Observing the simple rules of behavior on the ice, you will turn your and other people's leisure into fun entertainment and can avoid negative accidents.
