Design

Specifications

So we got to the zest of this "twelve". And under the hood there is 120-strong injector engine VAZ-21128 1.8 16v. Reviews about it are only positive. The unit perfectly withstands all loads and is unpretentious in operation. And most importantly, it is much better rides than the factory VAZ engines.

Now let's move on to the technical details. As a basis Togliatti engineers took a 1.6-liter engine, bored to 1.8 liters. The diameter of the cylinders was increased by 0.5 millimeters. Also, engineers used a new crankshaft. Unlike the standard, it provides a large stroke of the pistons. The elements of the crank-piston group were lightened. This is done to reduce the vibration load of the motor and preserve the inertia forces of the crank. The block of the 1.8-liter motor itself is higher than the factory one by 2 millimeters. And of course, there is a "shesnar" on it. All these improvements allowed to increase the torque from 137 to 160 Nm. The machine is characterized by high acceleration and traction. Acceleration to a hundred is 10 and a half seconds. For comparison: the stock "twelve" gave out a parameter of 12 and a half (and on a 16-valve motor). The maximum speed increased to 200 kilometers per hour.

Transmission, consumption

As a gearbox, a five-stage "mechanics" with a reinforced secondary shaft and synchronizers is used here. The clutch was also modernized. The VAZ-21128 is equipped with a reinforced disk from the company "Luke". Transfers are included clearly and confidently. As for fuel consumption, the tuning of the VAZ-21128 engine did not significantly affect the efficiency. In a mixed cycle, the machine consumes 7.5 liters of 95th.

Chassis

The suspension of this "twelve" is practically factory, but it is slightly modified. So, in front is the usual "McPherson", and behind - the beam. This suspension scheme has been practiced on AvtoVAZ since the time of the Eight. But its course on the sports "twelve" is limited. Racks use rigid, reinforced springs. This is done for the purpose of better controllability. Indeed, the car does not scour and keeps the road perfectly. But on the bumps it will be noticeably shaken, and from this you can not escape. Also on the front and rear axle a stabilizer is used on polyurethane bushes for better stability. In addition, the brakes were also refined. They are much more effective than on the factory "twelve". Engineers of AvtoVAZ used a vacuum cleaner and a master brake cylinder from Chevrolet Niva. This gave an excellent responsiveness of the car to the pedal. The brakes are very energy-intensive, yet easily pedaled. But there are also miscalculations. For example, all the same drums are used behind. Although the front diameter of the disc was increased for the installation of 15-inch cast wheels (as shown by practice, the arches hold and 17th, only on the lower profile).

The steering remained the same. In addition, there is a hydraulic booster here. It is not equipped with servotronic (the steering wheel does not get heavy with speed), so for better handling it is necessary to put a wide rubber.

Price

Unfortunately, the mass production of these machines has long ceased. And they were only produced in limited series. For the entire period of the history of the model, only 50 copies were produced. Also there were two-liter versions with the Opelev engine (based on the "dozens" sedan), but they do not apply to this topic. After all, in the first case, the engineers modified the VAZ engine, and in the second case they just bought a ready-made unit from the Germans. If you plunge into history, then for a new model in 2003, asked from 287 to 327 thousand rubles. This is about ten thousand dollars at the current exchange rate. Now you can buy this car for 200 thousand rubles. At VAZ-21128 the price is very affordable, given that this is the fastest "twelve" of all factory ones.
