What is Xenon for a car

Since the road in front of the car has been illuminated by its own headlights, several different lighting sources have changed. Gas, namely propane lamps were replaced by vacuum incandescent lamps, and they, in turn, halogen. It's time for the xenon lamps. So what is xenon?

Xenon lamp is two glass bulbs - external and internal. The first serves to protect against various contaminants, sudden changes in temperature, pressure difference (30/120 atmospheres) in a switched off and ignited light bulb. The inner flask contains a mixture of gases pumped into it under pressure. The main one is the inert gas xenon. The various parameters of the device, for example, the temperature of light, the rate of ignition, etc., depend on the constituent components of such a gas cocktail, so car enthusiasts should better understand what xenon is and how it is used in lighting.

In the manufacture of quality flasks, quartz glass is used. Two wires with electrodes are connected to the inner part on both sides, a potential difference is formed during ignition. When the lamp is turned on, the control unit gives it a pulse equal to 25 thousand volts, after which ionization of the gas inside it occurs. In the future, to maintain the combustion requires not much power, about 35 watts. The xenon lamp control unit also monitors the voltage required to support the combustion.

The lighting kit includes two xenon lamps, a pair of ignition blocks, fasteners, wires, adapters. All xenon lamps are installed according to the standard scheme. Many manufacturers have a connection diagram for xenon to the sold set of lamps. It details how to install the ignition, wiring, replace the usual bulbs in the headlights with xenon lights.

Having learned what xenon is, setting it on your car, you can feel all the positive aspects of its use. The light produced by the xenon lamps is similar to the daylight. Due to its design features, xenon has an advantage over conventional (with filament) and halogen lamps.

A beam of light that is emitted by xenon lamps is well focused, and this allows the use of all the light in front of the machine, without scattering it from the sides. Thanks to a directional beam of glow, the properly adjusted headlights will not dazzle the drivers of cars oncoming traffic.

Xenon lamp can not burn out, because it does not have a filament, it is not afraid of shaking when driving a car. Its service life is approximately 2,000 hours. When the lamp works, the heat does not leave much of the energy, and this protects the headlamps from overheating.

At dusk and in the dark, with daytime xenon glow it is much easier to assess the situation on the road. The driver at a sufficiently large distance is visible objects that are present on the roadway and its roadsides. In conditions of insufficient visibility, in the fog, rain, snowfall, xenon rays illuminate the roadway well.

In the standard version of the car, xenon is used on cars since 1996. The car on which it is installed has a special extraordinary appearance. Sensing that such a xenon, the car owner will never return to the use of conventional or halogen lamps.
