Particular attention to the division of fruits into sweet and savory was given by the founder of the theory of nutrition separately, the American G. Shelton. He recommended that everyone start their day with a portion of fresh fruits, wholly, and not in the form of juices. At one time it is allowed to eat 2-3 of their kind.

In his theory G. Shelton singled out unsweetened fruit into a separate group. A list of nutritionists suggests that it includes acidic and semi-acidic fruits. In addition, there is another group consisting of sweet fruits.

Sour fruits include oranges and pineapples, apples of unsweetened varieties, peaches, grapefruits, lemon, sour, cranberries. In them, the sugar content is minimal, and therefore they are among the most useful fruits.

The group of semi-acid fruits includes fresh figs, sweet cherries and apples, plum, mango, pear, sweet peach, apricots, blueberries. According to H. Shelton's theory, acidic and semi-acid fruits are recommended to be combined with each other.

To sweet fruits include bananas, dates, figs dried, raisins, prunes, dried pear, persimmon. The use of such fruits in food should be minimized.

Today, many nutritionists disagree with G. Shelton and believe that the group, which includes unsweetened fruits, should be done even less. It should only include fruits with the lowest possible sugar level.

All the fruits presented in this table, by the amount of sugar in them, can be conditionally divided into 4 groups.

  • With a low sugar content - up to 3.99 g in 100 grams of fruit. "The champion" in this group is avocado - an unsweet fruit, which by taste is sometimes referred to as vegetables.
  • With a small amount of sugar - from 4 to 7.99 g in 100 grams. A cherry plum is the winner in this group. The average fruit of this fruit contains up to 1 gram of sugar.
  • With an average sugar content - from 8 to 11.99 in 100 grams. The most useful in this group is the peach.
  • High in sugar. The use of these fruits should be limited to people with diabetes.

The most useful unsweetened fruit

All fruits with low sugar content are already beneficial to the body. But it should be borne in mind that only under condition of their moderate use. Which fruits are unsweetened and what is their use? For example, a lemon is a record for the content of vitamin C, which is so necessary for the immune system of the body, especially during the growth of the number of viral diseases. But there are also contraindications to its use: a stomach ulcer, gastritis, hypertension.

No less useful is the avocado. Regular use of these fruits (half a day) improves memory, helps to normalize the work of the intestines, get rid of constipation, reduces blood pressure.

According to the sugar content, the avocado deservedly tops the list of dried fruits. But they should not be abused, because the fruits are very high in calories, due to more vegetable fat in them.

Thus, absolutely all unsweetened fruits are useful. They are recommended to eat before or after eating, and it is better to use it as a snack. Single dose of fruits is 100-150 grams or 2-3 fruits.

List of unsweetened fruits in diabetes mellitus

Diabetes patients should carefully plan their diet. In food they can eat only unsweetened fruits such as orange, lemon, grapefruit, pomelo, plum, sour cherry, peaches. Useful for diabetics will be berries such as raspberries, strawberries, currants, cranberries, cranberries.

It is strictly forbidden to eat any sweet fruit. These include bananas, melons, dried fruits, grapes, persimmons, sweet cherries.

Which fruits are suitable for a diet?

People who adhere to a diet should eat less calorie foods with a low sugar content. Useful for them will be such unsweetened fruits as grapefruit, kiwi, pineapple, apples. They accelerate metabolism, promote the splitting of fatty deposits and saturate the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals.
