Tutankhamen's Tomb - what secret hides the tomb of Pharaoh?

November 1922 went down in history as a significant day of the discovery of one of the great Egyptian secrets. The world press on November 30 intrigued the headlines: "The search was crowned with success ...", "Egyptian treasure". It was reported that Lord Carnarvon and Mr. Carter made the greatest discovery of the century - found the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Egyptian heretical king.

Lord Carnarvon has long been in love with Egypt and deeply studied the history of ancient civilization. In 1916, he enlisted the support of the famous explorer Howard Carter, began work on the search for the tomb of the pharaoh, which lasted for six years. Before the group of scientists there was an almost impossible task. The Valley of the Kings has long been ransacked, and the tombs of other Egyptian kings are looted. The tomb of Tutankhamun was found in the last winter of the excavation under the place where once the huts of the builders were located.

The time of the reign of the young Egyptian king was not marked by significant coups. He ascended the throne after the mysterious death of Amenhotep IV - Pharaoh, who rejected the cult of the god Amon-Ra and proclaimed himself the only lord of Egypt. The reign of Amenhotep IV left devastation behind itself, Egypt was practically destroyed. After the death of the madman, his body was torn and thrown away.

9-year-old Tutankhamun comes to power in this difficult period and tries to restore the former greatness of the power and to gain the mercy of the gods. Not looking at the fact that the young Pharaoh was predicted a great future, Tutankhamun dies at the age of 18, and is buried in a hastily constructed modest tomb, which was found three millennia later.

The tomb of Tutankhamun is a living legend, its discovery is the greatest day for Egyptologists and scientists who previously could not touch the history of the burial of the pharaohs. And only in 1922, exciting facts were obtained, which became direct evidence of the luxury of the burial of the lords of ancient civilization.

Descending the stairs leading to the dungeon, the expedition discovered on its way the entrenched entrances with traces of ancient seals, the last of which was the door to the legendary tomb.

The tomb of Tutankhamun, a photo of which was subsequently presented to the press, was a crypt clogged with gilded chariots, statues of kings, caskets and chests. Jewels that were found in the tomb, dealt with for five years - so much was their number.

In one of the rooms of the tomb was found a sarcophagus with three gilded coffins, the last of which was the mummy of Tutankhamun, a face covered with a golden mask of amazing work. Judging by the contours, the young pharaoh was captivating and handsome. Certainly, the mummy, like other artifacts of the tomb, was strewn with gold jewelry. However, among the treasures the most touching was a bouquet of wilted flowers, left, apparently, by the young wife of the pharaoh. Scientists say that since Tutankhamen was buried in such luxury, one can only imagine what wealth kept the tombs of other kings.

The tomb of Tutankhamun, however, bore traces of the presence of robbers in it. Probably the thieves visited the burial vault soon after the burial, but for unknown reasons they took a little and did not return. The entrance to the crypt was eventually blocked, and afterwards completely forgotten.

Any discovery always has a mysterious plume. The curse of the tomb of Tutankhamun is a mystery that strikes even the contemporaries. After the opening of the tomb for a short time, about 20 members of the expedition died under strange circumstances. Lord Carnarvon died in 1923 from a mosquito bite. The press widely covered all the unusual deaths that overtook many scientists and visitors to the tomb. It is believed that by 1930 only Howard Carter remained the only living among those members of the group who took part in the excavation.

Mysteries always attracted humanity. And how many of them are still hidden and not revealed to the world. Perhaps, the puzzles open to people when their time comes.
