Who are vampires and what are they like?

In the cultures of different countries and peoples, as well as in modern cinema and literature, there are often terrible, but ambiguous monsters - vampires. What are they and are there really vampires? In a way, yes.

Folklore and mythology

A vampire is an evil from Eastern European legends, a rebel dead man who feeds on the blood of people or animals. The same word is used for other similar creatures that are present in the folklore of almost all countries and peoples. So can be called any mythological or magical parasite - a creature that somehow sucks from its victims blood, energy, vitality and so on. The characteristic features of vampires, however, differ depending on their "homeland".

Origin

Who are vampires and where do they come from? It was believed that after death, criminals, suicides or wizards, illegitimate children or children who died before baptism, and sometimes people whose deaths were early, violent and especially cruel, turned into them after death. Also vampirism, like werewolves, can be passed on to someone bitten or killed by another vampire.

Appearance

Who are vampires and how do they look? They have very pale skin, bright red lips and prominent pointed fangs. Vampires from films and pictures of contemporary artists are often absolutely stunning: perfectly laid hair, catchy make-up, expensive exquisite clothing, emphasizing the perfect figure ... It is not known how fanged dame can look like this when not reflected in the mirrors.

Lifestyle

Who are vampires and what are their characteristics? They are afraid of sunlight and the objects of the Christian cult, they sleep in the coffins during the day and hunt at night, they can turn into bats, they die if they break their hearts with an aspen stake or cut off their heads. However, the authors of books about these creatures often go against these stereotypes, they outplay and ridicule them.

Flora and fauna

Who are vampires in the animal and vegetable world? These are organisms that feed on the bodily fluids of other creatures: the leech, the mistletoe and, of course, the vampire bat. By the way, not all folkloric bloodsuckers are anthropomorphic: there are stories about blood-sucking spiders and even dogs. Some such creatures are semi-mythical, for example, chupacabras are goat's vampires. Do they exist? This is not confirmed by science, but some people claim to have seen them, and even show photos.

Energy Vampires

Vampires, which not only exist, but often meet each person, are energetic.

Alas, they can not be recognized at first sight by characteristic bite, but you can guess their presence quickly - by the feeling of sudden decline of strength: they do not drink blood in the literal sense, but draw energy from the surrounding people.

To make this easier and more convenient, they often provoke quarrels and loud clarification of the relationship. Unfortunately, energy vampires are not afraid of daylight or holy water, and it remains only to stay away from their hunting grounds and not get caught on their teeth.
