Treatment of tonsillitis in children and during pregnancy

Tonsillitis is a disease that occurs due to inflammation of the tonsils. The cause of its development may be some bacteria, but more often the immune system of the child can cope with them. As a rule, infection occurs from another patient by airborne droplets. Very often children become infected from patients who do not have severe symptoms of the disease. Treatment of tonsillitis in children is required to begin immediately, because the presence of infection in the body weakens it and poisons with toxins, resulting in a general intoxication.

Distinguish between acute and chronic tonsillitis. Treatment of tonsillitis in children, having acute shape, leads to a complete recovery of tonsil tissues and their protective function.

If the child has a chronic form of the disease, the treatment can be operative or conservative. With this form of the disease there are changes in the structure of the tonsils, and there is some loss of their functionality. Treatment in this case is carried out using antibacterial drugs. More specific recommendations the doctor gives only after receiving an analysis of the nature of the causative agent of the disease. As a rule, the complex of medicines includes antiseptics and drugs that have analgesic effect. The fact is that a serious inflammatory process leads to the appearance of severe pain.

In chronic form, treatment of tonsillitis in children requires compliance with a set of special recommendations:

  1. It is necessary to observe the regime of the day, adhere to a diet prescribed by the doctor, rich in vitamins.
  2. The child needs to be as often and longer as possible on the street, perform regular physical exercises (only without overexertion).
  3. An important role in treatment is played by tempering the body, as well as positive emotions.

Typically, the treatment of tonsillitis in children should be carried out on an outpatient basis, but in some cases hospitalization is required. The course of therapy includes regular treatment of tonsils, rinsing and inhalation. Treatment of tonsillitis with antibiotics is regulated and prescribed only by a doctor. Self-administration of any drugs is excluded.

The main error in the treatment is the desire to finish it as early as possible. It should be remembered that an inflammation that is not treated can cause a relapse with time. If the parents do not follow the doctor's recommendations and arbitrarily stop giving the prescribed medications to the child, tonsillitis becomes chronic, and this can lead to the removal of the tonsils.

Doctors do not have a common opinion as to what age is most acceptable for a child to remove tonsils. Therefore, it is much easier to prevent surgery, having cured tonsillitis in a timely manner, rather than then being operated on.

Very often inflammation of the tonsils occurs in women who are expecting a child. Treatment of tonsillitis in pregnancy involves the use of conservative techniques. The choice of necessary medicines should be carried out by a qualified specialist, but do not forget to warn him that you are expecting a child. The fact is that many medications have an adverse effect on the fetus, but this should not be allowed.

As a rule, the administration of antibiotics of the penicillin series is prescribed. Antihistamines are not prescribed, given pregnancy and future breastfeeding. The same applies to the intake of antipyretics. However, multivitamins play an important role in maintaining vitality and normalizing the work of organs.

Assign rinses, lubrication of the tonsils, lacunae washing - in a word, during pregnancy, local therapy is actively used, but only under the strict control of the otolaryngologist.
