Treatment of bursitis of the knee joint: we return ease to the gait

Bursitis - a fairly common disease, which is an inflammation of synovial bags, as a result of which liquid is collected in them. Knee, shoulder and elbow joints are the most susceptible to the disease.

In this case, we are talking about a disease of the knee joint, the symptoms of which are fairly transparent and are a signal to visit the doctor. What is bursitis expressed in?

  1. Appearance of swelling of the knee joint.
  2. Painful sensations.
  3. Increase in temperature in the area of the inflammation focus.
  4. Limited movement (with chronic bursitis).

If you have found at least one symptom, immediately go to the doctor.

The detection of this disease, as a rule, does not cause any difficulties. Enough examination of the patient by palpation, but sometimes you may need a radiography or ultrasound diagnosis. If the case is particularly difficult, an arthrography is prescribed (a special substance for contrast is injected into the joint to get the most accurate results of the study).

Treatment of bursitis of the knee joint should occur in a complex. In acute disease, surgical intervention is usually not required. First of all, fixation of the knee joint is necessary to immobilize it. For this, a tight bandage is applied to the affected area, which helps to avoid puffiness in the course of the disease. For dressing, both elastic bandages and gypsum langets can be used (in some cases).

It is possible to use compresses, which makes the treatment of bursitis of the knee joint more effective. But an individual approach is required here. In some cases, cold compresses help, and sometimes a good result is given by heating, for example, using Vishnevsky ointment.

If the pain is very severe, treatment of bursitis of the knee joint may be accompanied by the appointment of anesthetics. Most often in such situations, prescribe novocaine with hydrocortisone. Physiotherapeutic procedures also give a good effect. These include paraffin applications, phonophoresis with hydrocortisone.

With a chronic or purulent course of the disease without surgical intervention, as a rule, it is impossible.

The treatment of bursitis of the knee joint may include punctures by which an excess fluid is removed from the bag (bursa) and the cavity is washed with an antibacterial solution. Sometimes it is necessary to carry out such an operation more than once.

If the treatment does not give any results, the doctor can open the bag and remove pus from there. However, due to the painful process and prolonged postoperative recovery, this method is used quite rarely.

In the presence of calcium deposits, which limit movement of the knee joint and can lead to its complete immobility, aspiration is applied, that is, small deposits are sucked off by a syringe.

As you know, any disease is always easier to prevent than cure, so do not forget about the prevention of bursitis. First, we must evenly distribute the load on the joints. Secondly, carefully handle all kinds of pustular wounds, not forgetting that they can cause many diseases. Thirdly, with the first symptoms of pain, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Take care of your feet: the flying gait will remain your companion until the end of days.
