Treating heel spurs by different methods
The spur is a bone growth on the heel, shaped like a spine. This new growth occurs in the place of attachment of the Achilles tendon. Spurs on the heels, photos of which can be seen below, appear due to increased stiffness of muscles and ligaments or age-related changes in the body, and strengthening of brittleness of bones that can arise as a result of the injuries received. A pathological neoplasm may result from excessive body weight, abnormal foot placement, flat feet, high lifting, and diabetes.
The final diagnosis can be made only by an orthopedic specialist on the basis of a visual examination of the leg and an X-ray. Since the spur is a bone growth, its removal is possible only with the help of surgical methods. However, the bone itself does not cause pain syndrome. Unpleasant sensations arise because of the inflammatory processes in the tissues surrounding the growth. That is why conservative treatment of heel spurs is reduced to the elimination of concomitant pathological phenomena.
Modern medicine offers the following measures and procedures for treatment of the disease:
- mud applicators;
- ultrasound treatment;
- X-ray therapy;
- mineral baths;
- hormonal injections;
- shock-wave therapy;
- wearing orthopedic insoles and shoes;
- surgical intervention.
Treatment of calcaneal spurs can be performed with the help of warm baths consisting of various medicinal herbs (plantain, burdock, coltsfoot, onion, garlic, marshwort, white acacia). An aqueous solution in which soap is added can also contain salt and soda.
Recipes of traditional medicine offer treatment for calcaneal spurs with the help of simple and affordable means. A good effect can be achieved by using a compress with a slurry of raw potatoes and horseradish. Getting rid of the pathological neoplasm is possible even with the riding of a pouch into which buckwheat or any other cereal is poured.
Folk healers are also advised to walk with foil from tea, which is tied to the heels. A good medicine for spurs is dog hair. It must be put in socks. Apply to the heels of salted cucumbers or honey-greased cabbage leaf. At night, you can make a compress made of grated black radish on a fine grater. Treating heel spurs with recipes of traditional healers is possible with the help of ground red pepper. You should walk with him, pouring it into your toe.
In the presence of pain in the area of the heel, it is necessary, first of all, to consult a specialist. Unpleasant sensations can be caused, in addition to spurs, by rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterew's disease or Reiter's syndrome.
