The oldest professional university in Siberia is the Tomsk Pedagogical University , the successor of the Teachers' Institute, which was opened by Nikolay the Second in July 1902. Thus, this educational institution has long crossed the centenary of its founding.

TSPU

Tomsk State Pedagogical University has a long, so glorious history. The teachers' institute trained teachers of primary schools and schools - rural and urban, where the training lasted five to six years. In addition, teachers from Tomsk also taught in seminaries.

The first director of Tomsk Pedagogical University named an excellent teacher, who was involved in the formation of the entire educational system in Siberia - Schepetev VP, after which for thirteen long years IA Uspenskiy was the head of the teacher's institute.

Teachers of the early twentieth century were truly "stellar": PF Lomovitsky, SI Gessen, VI Shumilov, and VV Sapozhnikov. Fine artists MM Mitrofanov, VI Lukin, SM Prokhorov worked there. In the workshops of manual labor, which the institute was particularly proud of, NI Molotilov was engaged.

Building

First, the future Tomsk Pedagogical University was located in a rented building. It was a private two-story house on Nikitin Street. But by the summer of 1905 a special building was built on the street, which now bears the name of Herzen.

The building was built for public expense, the project was designed by the famous architect FF Gut. Since the seventies this building is protected by the state as an architectural monument of the beginning of the twentieth century - so decided Tomsk Regional Executive Committee.

Difficult years

In the Civil War, most of the country's vocational schools were seriously tested. And Tomsk Pedagogical University, being still a teacher's institute, did not escape this fate. Educational activity was suspended from 1920 to 1923. The building was transferred to the courses of engineers of the command staff, then to the hospital. But in 1923 the building still had adjacent educational institutions: pedagogical technical schools - Russian and Turkic.

The program of Likbez was being implemented, the teachers of rural schools were simply desperate, and a lot and quickly. Only in 1930 the system of higher education was restored, and the pedagogical staff of the highest qualification began to emerge from the walls of the future TSPU. Tomsk State Pedagogical University is now famous for it.

The beginning of the Soviet university

Great efforts had to be made by VA Maleev, VN Naumova-Shiroki, GE Chuich, MI Usanovich, FF Shamakhov, and many others in order for the teaching institute to function. They managed to create a practically autonomous pedagogical faculty with three departments: literary, chemical-technological and physico-technical. Dean was a professor, the famous linguist G. Chuich.

A year later, in August 1931, the pedagogical faculty was transformed into an independent educational institution, which was named the Industrial Pedagogical Institute, and in 1932 it completely occupied its native walls - the former teacher's institute. The faculties of the TSPU at that time remained in the same quality and quantity.

Names and facts

G. Chuich became the director of the new institute, and his assistant in scientific work was FF Shamakhov. MM Degtyarev was in charge of the physical and technical department in the literary work of I. Ya. Kostes, on the chemical and technological department, ZP Starkov. Why did the word "industrial" appear in the name of the new university?

Because time required factory and factory professionals, who needed to learn to work on increasingly sophisticated equipment. And for this you need the most intellect, a good and full school. All the first editions of the Soviet era, the Tomsk State Pedagogical University sent factory schools to schools. Then they began to be called PTU.

General seven-year

Since 1934, a seven-year general education has been established in the country, the structure of the secondary and primary schools has been rapidly reconstructed. It was then that the university lost the industrial orientation of training specialists and began to be called simply: Tomsk Pedagogical Institute.

Teachers of the university undertook to improve their scientific and pedagogical qualifications. Already in 1935 the defense of the first dissertation took place - AF Kolesnikov became the candidate of physical sciences. Beginning in 1937, scientific conferences began to be held at the Institute more often, and in 1939, the "Scientific notes of the TSPI" began to be published. Teachers from the State University and the most famous Tomsk Polytechnic were eager to lecture to future teachers.

War

In 1941, many students and employees left in the summer, and the institute gave way to the military hospital, moving with their lectures from the building to the building. However, the activity of Tomsk Pedagogical did not stop. In 1943, the building was returned to the Institute. The number of students did not decrease, and the teaching staff was significantly strengthened due to evacuees professors.

Only during the war years dozens of dissertations were protected, and in addition to six scientific conferences, many historical, ethnographic, archaeological and folklore expeditions were conducted. And the assistance to the front was felt by the students and teachers, and they also helped greatly in the rear.

After the war

In the fifties and sixties there was a bright demographic surge, the number of children in schools increased literally at times. There was a sharp shortage of pedagogical personnel. But to prepare more graduates the building was not enough. Therefore, there was a new building for study - on Komsomolsky Avenue, which was commissioned in 1966. At the same time the construction of a hostel began, and by 1970 the problem of students' residence was practically solved. Now the highly qualified teachers of the university did not miss. Intensive research was carried out, ties with scientific research institutes, the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and especially with its Siberian branch were strengthened.

And now the most effective in this area is Tomsk Pedagogical University. Training courses have all those forms that were laid back in the seventies: internships, creative vacations, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and so on. By 1980, forty percent of the teaching staff had degrees. Studies that are conducted at the institute, and now have a world level. Here the personnel of the highest qualification are trained - more than thirty specialties of higher education and more than thirty scientific directions.

Modernity

Now the scientific and pedagogical work of the team has become even more active: the Tomsk State Pedagogical University has established relations with many universities in far-abroad countries, and these international ties are getting stronger from year to year. Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, Italy, the United States, France - this is the incomplete list of countries where the exchange professors come and read lectures to Tomsk students, where students and teachers from distant Siberia travel for internships. The authority of the university has grown significantly in the whole system of higher education in the country.

Over the years of the FSBOE HPE, "Tomsk State Pedagogical University" has trained more than forty-five thousand specialists who have remained working in the institutions of science, education, culture, economics and many other fields of knowledge and activity. Employees of the university and its graduates became famous teachers, scientists, writers, state and public figures. More than six hundred of them have honorary titles, many are awarded with State prizes and government awards.

Teachers and the scientific process

The scientific life of the Tomsk State Pedagogical Institute is growing and expanding every year, and the quality of graduate training is improving. Faculties: Physics and Mathematics

At present, the TSPU has thirteen faculties and three institutes with different forms of education, conditions for obtaining education and various educational programs.

The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics implements scientific research grants jointly with colleagues from Germany, Australia, Spain, Brazil, Canada, Greece and Japan. Scientific and practical conferences are constantly held here, in which dozens of invited people take part: teachers and heads of universities, colleges and schools, methodologists, psychologists from the most remote corners of the country. Rare scientific conferences of international scale are held less often. The theoretical physicists of the faculty carry out projects on the state assignments of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Works are being submitted for competitions in scientific projects and are won, thus confirming the high prestige of the research work at the faculty. And gravitational physics and scientific works in this field brought in 2014 the Amaldi medal, awarded to Professor Odintsov S.D., from the Italian society of gravitation and the theory of relativity, every two years.
