Throttle Position Sensor: characteristic, operating principle

The throttle position sensor (DPDZ) occupies a very important place in the system, which monitors the received dose of fuel. At its signal, the controller starts its work, which includes determining the position of the flap. By how high the speed of the signal changes, the tracking of the dynamics of the pedal pressing is carried out, and this is the main factor determining the required fuel dose. In the mode in which the engine starts, the deflection angle of the damper is monitored. And if it is open by 75 percent or more, the engine blowdown mode is activated. The signal given by the throttle position sensor is the starting signal. It is after him that the controller starts controlling the RHC ( idle speed regulator ). This is how the air is supplied to the engine.

It is worth noting that the throttle position sensor has another name. This is a mechanism of the so-called potentiometric type, which includes resistors (constant and alternating). Their total resistance is about 8 kOhm.

A signal indicating the position of the damper is fed through the resistor to the controller. This signal has a value that is slightly less than 0.7 V. If the voltage is more than 4 V, the control unit will calculate that the flap is absolutely open. The throttle position sensor is usually mounted on its housing and connected to the axis of rotation. The axis has a special groove, which is part of the cruciform nest. Actually, DPDZ is fixed by means of two screws.

It is impossible not to mention the non-contact throttle position sensor . Its purpose is to generate a DC voltage, the data of which is proportional to the opening angle of this damper, as well as the fuel injection system in the engine. The rotation shaft is clockwise. This mechanism is fixed on a special branch (throttle) fuel injection system. There, of course, everything is provided for the implementation of this installation. I want to note that the resource of this product can not be limited to automobile mileage.

And another topic that I would like to touch is the throttle position sensor VAZ. On older machines, as you know, the established mechanisms require increased attention. And often, DPDD becomes unusable. So, this mechanism is defective if:

  1. There are problems at idle.
  2. Turn off the gear - the car engine stalls.
  3. Jumps appear when speed dials.
  4. Idling speed "floats" in almost all modes in which the engine performs its work.

In order to make sure that the DPDZ does not work, it is necessary to verify it, and it is quite easy to do this. It is necessary to turn on the ignition, and then measure the voltage between the output of the slider and the "mass". If the voltmeter reading is 0.7 V or less, then everything is OK.
