The State Museum-Reserve "Tsaritsyno": description, prices, photo, address. How to get to the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve?

In the south-east of Moscow is the largest and most beloved by the citizens of the State Museum-Reserve "Tsaritsyno."

History of the estate

In 1775, in the village of Chernaya mud began the construction of a suburban royal residence. The decree on the beginning of construction was issued by Empress Catherine II.

Initially, the construction of the estate was entrusted to the famous Russian architect VI Bazhenov. He decided to step back a little from the traditional classical style and create a new architectural ensemble based on the asymmetry of the buildings. According to the idea of the author, he had to consist of several small palaces, decorated in his own style.

The first was the Figured Bridge. He looked like a fortress gate with massive towers and window-loopholes. This is truly a unique building of the Russian architect of the XVIII century. In 1778, the Middle Catherine and the Small Palaces were erected, which were intended for the residence of the Empress.

At the same time the construction of the Great Palace was started, in 1784 - the construction of the Bread House. This building was intended for storing food and cooking for the imperial table. It was also planned to equip the premises for servants.

After a preliminary inspection, Catherine II was dissatisfied with the work of the architect, and Bazhenov was removed from his job. His place was taken by the equally famous architect M. Kazakov. By order of the Empress, the Grand Palace was completely dismantled.

Mikhail Kazakov tried to save a lot from the project Bazhenov, to find a compromise option. To this end, he left the planning structure of the palaces, but additionally imposed on it a certain "gothic" decoration. As a result of such an original solution, a new style has appeared - pseudo-Gothic, experts more often call it "Russian Gothic". It should be noted that this is the only palace in Europe, executed in this style.

But the dream of Catherine II about the new residence was not destined to come true. During the life of the Empress the palace was not completed. And in 1797, after her death, the construction stopped altogether.

The unique palace complex began to revive gradually only at the end of the last century. In 1993, this historic place became known as a museum-preserve. It was included in the list of valuable monuments of Russian history and culture.

Tsaritsyno in our days

The Museum-Reserve "Tsaritsyno" has changed in recent years. Here, with pleasure, rest Muscovites and numerous guests of the capital. Visitors are strongly impressed by the modern and well-kept museum complex, picturesque ponds.

The Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve was also famous for the fact that in the years of the Great Patriotic War, in one of the houses, not far from the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the elder Matrona Moskovskaya lived.

A park

From this fabulous place we recommend to begin acquaintance with the museum-reserve "Tsaritsyno". The park began to form at the beginning of the XVIII century.

Its basis was a regular garden, distinguished by a clear geometry of plantings and avenues.

In Catherine's time, the fashion for them passed, replaced by English irregular gardens. To organize such plantation in Tsaritsyno in 1784, a gardener from London Francis Reed was invited.

However, the true flourishing of the Tsaritsynsky Park took place at the beginning of the XIX century. For registration were used various "artistic undertakings": pavilions, gazebos, bridges, grottoes.

A huge role in creating the park was played by IV Egotov - an outstanding architect.

Unfortunately, at the end of the last century the park was in a state of neglect - it turned into a neglected forest park.

In 2007 it was restored. He was freed from self-planting plantations and dead wood. Based on archival documents and archaeological excavations, the historical network of paths and paths of the park was restored.

The ponds of the reserve

"Tsaritsyno" - a museum-reserve, photo of which we have placed in our article, has two ponds - Upper and Lower Shipilovsky. They appeared on the territory of the estate by the middle of the XVII century, after the construction of dams on the rivers Yazvenka, Gorodnya and Cherepishka.

On the dams were built mills. The ponds made up one harmonious cascade with the Borisov Pond, which was created back in the time of Tsar Boris Godunov.

Today, Borisov and Tsaritsynsky ponds are considered to be the oldest and largest in terms of length and area in the modern capital.

The total area of water bodies exceeds 180 hectares.

Grand Palace

Many guests come to the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve to see this monumental building. The Great Palace was erected in 1793 by FM Kazakov. It was built on the site of the old palace, which was built by VI Bazhenov.

Creating a new palace, Matvey Kazakov faced a difficult task. It was necessary to inscribe a new structure in the already formed ensemble.

At the end of the XIX century from the old Bazhenov Palace removed the surviving remains of the roof and completely dismantled the cover of the towers. From the palace there were only walls.

Reconstruction of the palace began in 2005. For two years, the picturesque ruins, which were destroyed for almost two centuries, have turned into a museum complex.

In 2007, the palace ensemble was opened.

Today, the restored palace, as if born again. Based on M. Kazakov's designs, the delicate decor of the facade of the building was made.

The main (Ekaterininsky) hall of the palace, the area of which exceeds 300 square meters. Meters, has a grand staircase and adjoining grand parlors, decorated in the style of the XVIII century.

The hall is decorated with a magnificent statue of Catherine II, made of marble, the work of A. Opekushin.

In the remaining rooms now there are exhibitions with the participation of various Moscow museums.

Small Tsaritsyn Palace

This building is one of the few buildings of the ensemble in Tsaritsyno, which retained its name from the time of Bazhenov.

Small Tsaritsinsky Palace - one of the three, designed for Catherine II. It was the smallest and the cozy.

In 1804, when Tsaritsyno became available to the public, this building was leased to the Frenchman Lekanya, expelled from Russia in 1812, who organized the "Coffee House" here.

By the middle of the XX century, only half ruined walls remained from the palace.

Completely restored the palace was in 1996. It became part of the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve.

Kitchen cabinet

It was built by the architect VI Bazhenov in 1778. He was called "Bread House". In the XIX century, there was a clinic for peasants, and later - zemstvo school. Then the rooms in the building were handed over to summer residents for summer time. After the October Revolution and until the 1970s of the last century, communal apartments were located here .

In early 2006, the Bread House was restored. Today it is the main building for holding thematic exhibitions.
