The Moscow monorail transport system switches to the timetable. Why?

The Moscow monorail transport system as an idea arose very, very long ago, back in the seventies of the last century. Yes, that's before the dream came true, the business did not last long. In 1999, the project was finally launched. Moscow fought for the exhibition "Expo 2010", it was necessary to deliver its participants quickly to the venue (to VVC). Although the exhibition eventually took place in another city, the road was built. In 2004 it was put into operation.

The Moscow monorail transport system was conceived as a carrier of the future. Initially it functioned as an excursion, but gradually it turned into another type of passenger transport, of which there are seven kinds in Moscow. They carry up to 10 million people a day.

Why the profile was changed

Of course, tourists now also like to make a trip on the monorail road, because this type of transport in Russia is only in Moscow. It is worth saying that these roads are very popular among tourists abroad: in Tokyo, London, Berlin.

Why is there not a high popularity of this curiosity in Moscow? Everything is very simple and ordinary. The fact is that most of the way passes over the industrial zones of the city or residential areas, where few attractive spectacles can be seen in the train windows.

And yet the travelers are enthusiastically shown in their reviews under the headings "Moscow Monorail Transport System" photos from very unusual foreshortening of the Ostankino TV tower, the pond and the Trinity Life-Giving temple, the Space Museum and the main entrance of the All-Russia Exhibition Center.

Monorail today

On the line, seven small trains operate daily, namely, 6 wagons - it is only 35 meters long and 35 tons of weight in each train. 44 seats, that is 8 seats in each car, and two less in head cars.

The structure is equipped with electric motors. The motion is due to the magnetic flux. A train is traveling along a special beam, or rather, a plate, fixed on it. All the details of the domestic train. The constructions were developed by our scientists. True, there is a miscalculation of the fact that the weather conditions in the capital were not fully taken into account. The plate was placed on top of the beam, which leads in the winter to icing and creates additional labor for the processing of the canvas.

The train can travel at a speed of 60 km / h. But the Moscow monorail transport system is too twisty. This is due to the need to inscribe it into the existing urban terrain. If the presence of a lot of convolutions is good for the brain, then for a monorail it's bad. The speed is greatly reduced because of them. As a result, the train can move no faster than 30 km / h, so it is the slowest public transport in Moscow.

The most interesting thing is that the movement takes place over the city. It seems that the car is flying through the air.

For a day the monorail road carries 15 thousand passengers. If you compare with the metro, then there is a daily number of passengers seven million a day.

The ticket price is the same as in the metro. Go to the stations "VDNH" and "Timiryazevskaya" to the monorail or to the subway, if the allocated time limit is not exceeded, it is possible free of charge on the "Troika" card.

Stations

Length The Moscow monorail transport system is small. Only 4 km 700 meters. The distance between the stations is from 700 to 800 meters. It connects two branches of the metro - Kaluga-Rizhskaya and Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya. Московская монорельсовая транспортная система. Only six stations have the Moscow monorail transport system. The scheme of train movement by stations is carried out in the following order: from Eisenstein Street to the Exhibition Center, the street of Academician Korolev, Telecentre, Miloshenkov Street, Timiryazevskaya Street and back.

Reliability

The Moscow monorail transport system has the most technically equipped of all depots of passenger transport of the capital.

As soon as the last car enters the depot, night work begins on the verification of the entire system, beginning with the tracks and ending with the rolling stock. Crawlers, electricians, mechanics work until morning. So the reliability of the Moscow Monorail can not be doubted.

Opening Hours

As mentioned above, part of the way passes over apartment buildings. Therefore, the decision was made to adjust the time of work in such a way as to cause less concern to citizens. The work time is limited from seven in the morning to 23 in the evening. As many Muscovites who use monorail services say, this is not very convenient.

Future

Currently, due to the small passenger flow and high cost of the project, further development of the station system has been suspended. Trains run on schedule with an interval of about 15-20 minutes.

Does Moscow's monorail transport system have a future? Moscow (Russia as a whole, too) can develop a monorail system. Scientists and architects see the use of such roads, for example, in large airports for communication between terminals. A real piece of the monorail, apparently, will remain in the form that exists at the present time.
