The Modern Migration Policy of Russia

If we talk about how Russia's migration policy is being formed, it is necessary to take into account a number of important circumstances that are directly related to the process of the movement of large masses of people. Among them there are refugees, internally displaced persons and labor migrants. Many people argue how to control the processes of movement of these flows. Starting with major politicians and ending with the inhabitants who watch life out of the window of their apartment, everyone is trying to find a recipe or the principle of creating an effective management mechanism. The relevance of this problem is obvious to almost every capable citizen.

Major politicians, as they should, are concerned about the fate of the country as a whole. Our country has borders with eighteen states. Only in order to protect the borders throughout their entire length, a large and organized force is needed. And manpower is already not enough to ensure sustainable economic growth. The migratory policy of Russia in its current form also irritates a certain part of ordinary citizens. Especially those who do not have a permanent job and, as a result, a decent level of income. They believe that visitors from abroad take jobs from them. In this context, it should be noted that migration from Russia also takes place.

If the quality of migrants from the countries of the former Soviet Union leaves much to be desired, then qualified specialists seek to leave Russia for civilized countries. They have, even by European standards, a good education and professional skills. In the majority they speak foreign languages well. A significant part of them successfully adapts in new conditions and finds decent jobs for themselves. At the same time , Russia's migration policy does not react to such processes in any way. Of course, regrets and complaints about the "brain drain" sound very often, but nothing changes in the practical plane.

While experts and analysts predict negative processes inside the country will increase. The next 15 years can become critical for the further development of the country. The number of persons of retirement age will increase steadily. The capable part of the population is aging, and for its replacement, the newly born are simply not enough. Low birth rate and short life expectancy have their negative impact on the overall situation in the country. And even the migration to Russia of a large number of people from neighboring countries will not soon be able to help cope with the shortage of workers. All these facts indicate that the mechanism for entry and exit from the country needs to be changed.

According to statistics, more than four million Russians live on the territory of the states of Central Asia. All of them are former citizens of the Soviet Union, who under certain conditions can move to the territory of the Russian Federation. Polls, which are conducted with an enviable regularity, convincingly prove this. It remains to fulfill only one condition: it is necessary to make Russia's migration policy more flexible and humane. And to put off this conversion is not worth it.
