The largest waterfall, the rivers in Africa

In 1813, David Livingstone, a future scientist, travel explorer, missionary and preacher was born in Scotland. Being already a mature man, Livingstone received missionary work in a number of African provinces in 1841. Following his tasks, a brave traveler traveled the African continent far and wide, and in 1855 went on another missionary trek along the Zambezi River. Two weeks later, Livingston's boat approached some unimaginably noisy, rumbling place where clouds of water vapor rose to the sky, and the calm waters of the river, as if mad, flew away into the distance, and somewhere ahead, already invisible, with a terrible roar Overthrew somewhere down. It was the largest waterfall seen by a traveler in his entire life. He made an indelible impression!

David Linvingston became the first European to see the African great waterfall Mozi-a-Tunja, or Gremyaschy Smoke. Having looked narrowly, the traveler could appreciate all the power of the natural phenomenon. The waterfall stretched to the sides for a distance of about one and a half kilometers, and the height of the fall of the water was not less than 120 meters.

The Scotsman was the pioneer of this miracle of nature, he used his pioneer right and named the waterfall in honor of the Queen of England revered by him . So on the geographical maps there was another natural phenomenon - the Victoria Falls. And to this day Victoria, as the biggest waterfall, is the main attraction of the African continent, hundreds of thousands of tourists visit this natural wonder. In 1905, a railway was laid to the place of the pilgrimage that began, and the landmark was given the status of specially visited places. Directly at the edge of the cliff, somehow formed a small depression in the rocky bottom of the river, a depth of about two meters and 50 meters across. The water in this depression only slightly bubbles, unlike the rest of the cliff, thundering down millions of tons of boiling water.

This natural deepening was immediately chosen by tourists and individual brave souls, feeling relatively safe, swam to the very edge and photographed downward streams of water. Victoria's service staff categorically objected to such extreme entertainment, but without much success, since curious people can not be kept, and it is impossible to fence the natural pool. There have been a few cases when a careless tourist has broken down, but even the death of someone's attempt does not stop the others. The largest waterfall in Africa can not do without victims.

At the Victoria Falls is a monument to Livingston, he is carved from the whole stone in full growth. A little further away is the island, named after the missionary. Once upon a time ritual ceremonies took place, sorcerers, magicians and shamans gathered. Currently, the island is quiet, it is a place of rest for visitors. But on the Bridge of Dangers, built relatively recently for tourists and overhanging the waterfall, it's quite noisy because of the piercing squealing of the fairer sex, overlapping even the sound of water, although the biggest waterfall in the world would not mind to take a break from the noise.

For the bravest in the forest above the waterfall a special path is laid, passing along which, a person feels himself alone with the elements. True, women do not go there. And, finally, there is a special squadron of several deltoplanes and a helicopter, in which tourists are lifted into the air to inspect Victoria from a bird's eye view. However, the flight on the deltoplan somewhat irritates the passenger, and he is not up for inspection, but in the cockpit of the helicopter - just right, you can calmly look around and see in detail the largest waterfall on the Zambezi River.
