The grain planter was already with the Sumerians

Seeders grain (mechanical), according to some scientists, appeared in the primitive version for fifteen thousand years before our era in Ancient Sumer, but they were not widely distributed, so they went to oblivion. Re-development of this agricultural equipment found in the East, in China, where in the second century BC an iron seeder with several vasicles was invented. In Europe, this unit was widely used in the middle of the nineteenth century. Till this time, the grain was scattered by hand on the field, and then harrowed, which significantly influenced the harvest.

A modern grain seeder is an equipment that provides optimal conditions for each grain placed in the soil for development due to the fact that future plants are located, as a rule, at a certain distance, so do not interfere with each other.

The seed drill may fall into one or the other of the following categories:

- ordinary equipment, provides landing in an ordinary way, narrow-row (the distance between the rows is small, up to seven or eight centimeters), wide-row, tape or crossover methods;

- square-nest seeders, after operations with which plants are planted in the corners of rectangles or squares;

- nest equipment (seeds are planted in nests, sometimes several pieces per one);

- dotted seeders (grains are placed in the soil at the same distance from each other);

- Rare aggregates are used less often, which simply place the seeds on the soil surface (usually used for sowing grass with herbs).

The seed drill is a complex equipment that can immediately carry out several functions. The technological process on the seed drill can be described as follows: the seeds from the grain box enter the seed tube, where fertilizers are added to them, after which, with the help of rotating disks, both components are placed in the ground and are toppled with earth. In addition, the device allows the seeders to level the soil after such operations, which increases the convenience of further processing.

The seed drill can be of a special or universal type. Combined samples allow the sowing of various crops (usually grains and grains), while some plantings require special equipment that is highly specialized (corn for grain, sugar beet, flax, etc.). One universal unit, as a rule, replaces several conventional ones.

A grain sowing machine (hinged) is used less often than a trailing version, which allows processing large areas and making several units of a hitch. For example, from 1 to 6 trailed seeders can be involved in the sowing campaign, collected in a single complex, which is driven by a single tractor. Suspended samples are often used for planting seeds in small fields, where increased maneuverability and careful attitude to the soil are needed (hinged variants are almost always lighter than trailed ones).
